I've been officially driving around my poor test mule for the last few days now! Gathering as much info as possible... In short - 'Dare I say' Petrol like top end with even more torque down low thanks to revised fuelling, mapping and (to a lesser extent) boost.

More torque and more power everywhere with the ECUTEK Upgrade and about 15 hours of road tuning (development) under its belt. I've logged every minute with SDL (See recent postre MOTEC data logging) so I know exactly whats going on with absolutely EVERYTHING! Actual output is very much seat of the pants testing though until I get it on the dyno hopefully next week! 2 days of driving is suggesting economy improved from around mid 12L / 100kms to mid 10's so not sure how that compares with what you guys are experiencing but an improvement over what I've found so far... I've had it down to 8.8L on extended M4 run @ 80kp/h

Top end wise, I run out of road (and into traffic - Oops) @ 140km/h which it never felt like doing before but still got plenty left in it... And being an auto I've been cautious of driveability and torque delivery too which will carry over in part on the manual models!

I'm off over the mountains to Dubbo this weekend so will let you know how the economy goes and once on the dyno I can start 'quoting' gains...

Sorry for the delays guys - Its coming and I'm sure we can make it worth the wait!

Kind Regards
Chris

9.66L / 100km's over 925kms...

Fresh tank at Lidcombe (Sydney) Friday night then off to Dubbo (Overnight stay in Orange), 100 odd km's of here'ing and there'ing around Dubbo, then back to Wellington for a refuel (550 km's) it took 54.34L - Meaning 9.84L/100km - mostly sensible with some 'spirited' driing from Bathurst to Orange and heap and HEAPS of idling around at Western Plain zoo and surrounding tracks (I mean roads :D)

The Tank from Wellington got topped up again once home last night (ALL spirited driving last night!!! :D) at Lidcome with another 371.6 km's under its belt and took 34.99L to fill it - (Meaning 9.42L/100km).

Average as above @ 9.66L / 100km's and while I have always been confident overtaking, with extra grunt its actually now fun

All temps and info have been logged and we're 100% happy with all of it! With mine being an AUTO we can get dyno 'runs' out of it but the torque converter doing its thing at peak torque means 'actively tuning' on the dyno is a bit of a pain so my dyno readings will be relative but I'll need to get Sapient back in for the MAP I'm now using to get the best results - Will keep you guys posted!

Kind Regards
Chris

Just curious CCM, with this remap would a boost controller or boost cut module be needed or can you alter those parameters in the factory ecu? Also any idea on price for this yet? group buy possible?

Thanks

A Boost Cut Module isn't required - I can change this function and disable it within the factory ECU mapping once its upgraded with ECUTEK.

We've found the best results so far using a simple GFB bleed Valve @ 18.5 psi - Although I will inevidably look into electronic control methods at some stage...

Pricing is yet to be confirmed and I'm a little hesitant to discuss any estimates at all here as I don't want to 'commercialise' the thread - I'm trying to give you guys as much info as I possibly can without hijacking it as a sales oppurtunity - Would rather deal with clients directly in this regard...

No probs, just that I just got a boost controller and was looking into a boost cut module which I kinda think is a bit pricey for what it is and I'm starting to sway towards the remap rather than my chip as I have my doubts if it will ever work properly, so just trying to look ahead and not throw away too much money, looking forward to this becoming available and the final numbers.
Also another vendor on here is happy to run 22 psi with a chip on a std motor, what are your thoughts or plans with boost?

PIggybacks and 'interceptor' units have thier place - And while its controversial at best my opinion is always use them sparingly - More to the point especially if there is a more suitable solution...

These units take no consideration of a HUGE number of variables that the OEM ECU itself takes care of. Simply modifying inputs at certain RPM point to 'trick' the ECU into running more fuel works right acceptably there and then on the dyno when installed but generally lacks in many ways once out on the road in the real world. The factory compensations (alot for very good noise, smoke and reliability reasons) are then striaght away on the back foot and limited in thier operation meaning less of what everyone takes for granted buying a new (or near new) vehicle.

22psi is something I will spend more time on but I've found great results at 18.5psi to date with no real need to push things (reliability) any further. At this boost level there is already signs of the turbo running out of flow at 4100 RPM as it is starting to taper off 'just' - meaning if I push for 22 I will only get it through the midrange and it will taper off even faster (Meaning less linear power and torque as a result). I've also noted the turbo outlet temperatures are already over 100 degrees at this point too and while the factory intercooler does a very acceptable job of washing allot of this off before making it to the engine, I still woudn't recommend extended periods over this temperature - Especially on big trips, long hills and the like...

Wow - That was a mouth full :D No Dyno runs yet due to a back log of work coming through, But soon!!!

Sorry guys - you'll have to come to the dark side (My forum) :D

Couldn't figure out how to post the pics here and in my hurry to get out of heer for the weekend posted them on the MRT forum.

Check the graph out @ http://www.mrtperformance.com.au/forums ... php?t=6716

I've also got some footage heading for Youtube ealry next week too from teh dyno time...

TIMING...I need one or two more cars in to confirm and ensure we're all good to go over the next few weeks and will be able to provide minimum power gains from there including the MRT Factory Warranty Guarantee!

BRISBANE... There are a couple of options for Brisbane but I need to make sure they've got access to the right hardware and software before I point you in the right drection...

Have a good one, more update next week!

Holey crap, I'm drooling just looking at that map. That's rolling road at the wheels measurement? One of the graph lines says flywheel. When I get home I'll put the piccie up here.

That looks like 78kw at the back wheels std with an auto, which was what I was expecting from the oiler.

The manuals certainly run much more freely at around 100kw

Nice improvement there!!

Thanks for trqansferring the graph over!

Our dyno does read At the hub, as we take the wheels out of the equation - In saying that our dyno does read a little on the high side compared to a normal rolling road setup.

The main I remind people of everyday is for comparitive reasons ONLY. Any dyno run is only any good when compared to another run on the exact same dyno - Comparing dyno's across state line, different users etc can be timely and painfull

The gains are honest before and afters for my car which is on the high side of what we were expecting but worth the wait. I've got Sapient organised in around a week or so go get my latest maps and get some more good clean before and after grpahs for you 'Manual' guys...

Off to Melbourne via Bega for teh long weekend so I'll confirm those fuel economy numbers over a bigger trip for you guys!

As always, any queries at all please let me know,

Kind Regards
Chris

Chris,
I like the thought of more power, BUT is it posible to move the Torque lower in the rev range. Looks like it could be lower than standard below 2000rpms. Obviously 3rd gear dosn't help (bogging down at the start of the run?).

Also keen to know if your running the standard tyres and if 18.5 boost is standard?

Seconded, I'd rather more torque even lower down, even if it sacrifices power or torque up top...
