One of these chips or a wind booster?

What would you have more fun with?

I wonder how many people will say both!

Neither. Get a quality chip and enjoy real performance gains.

whats a real quality chip worth?
$500 clams ?
vs $150 pretty big difference.

love to see someone run a triton on the dyno and compare them back to back.

It's interesting, I'm not at the stage I was a year ago when I bought this triton. In the same year I've bought a house and we're about to have a baby so I won't be doing everything I wanted to this thing but that's life, I'd like to buy either of these things but I'm have the same feelings about putting a chip into the engine but the windbooster would be safe. I am just after the fun factor

Sure, but no hard evidence seems to be forthcoming and even the anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that the gains, if any, are fairly small.

Yes, I'd rather pay $500 or $1000, even $1500, to get substantial and measurable gains than waste (my interpretation) $150 on something that may, or may not work.

Proof? From my Pajero, 4M41 engine with 5 speed auto. Remember that the Pajero carries a 500kg weight penalty compared to the Triton, even if the standard output is 147kW. ChipIt 219. Unchipped time about 10.7 seconds.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Hmm
Just removed my "The Black One" chip as the car went into limp mode last night after trying to unsuccessfully start it.
Luckily I've a mate with a scan gauge and the fault was a P0192 or Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low. Cleared the fault and removed the whole unit.
Think I'll be trying to get my money back.

Check the connections, in particular the rail plug.

When they do things like this, is near always rail plug not having good contact.

Put the unit back on, start the car then move the harness near each plug till engine either jumps a bit or stalls. This will be where the issue is.

If the harness or plug is dodgy, they should replace it for you.

99% of the time the rail plug is not pushed on till "clicks" and the engine vibration during start and stop shakes them off a bit.

Have you had any issues Maxiy? Anyone else?

The supplier sent me an email today asking me to check the connections (done ... all ok) and have also suggested opening it up and dailing the tune back. Apparently it's set in the middle. Might try that on the weekend and report back.

No problems with mine, been great. I've had mine on the top setting for 20000km now. Fuel is the same but power is much improved.

DISCO

Took mine off last night, no issues, not warning lights, started fine. went for a drive round, truck ran fine. I did notice that the chip was out, didnt pull quite as hard once the turbo kicked in.

Went home re attached the chip, car started fine, went for a drive and it ran fine.

Got home a pulled the chip off again, started and ran fine. so no issues from me.

I have left the chip disconnected, i have found that around town, and to work (90% of my driving) i do not really notice the benefits of the chip, seems to be most benefit when you plant your foot. I was most interested in the fuel econ improvement, which i have had none so i shall keep the chip off for the time being.

Interesting to know that you can change the settings, shall pop mine open and see what the deal is.

I didn't know it could be adjusted either, I wonder if there are different models because from memory mine didn't give away any indications it's meant to be opened.

Just be careful going from waoh to go. Only reason i say that is My Chip My Diesel has 9 settings and when you receive it its in factory neutral which is 3. On that setting you notice a difference but it's not earth shattering. It has very careful instructions that you should move up settings one at a time and after each take it for a 20 min squirt to help with fuel mapping and to really asses the improvements and help find your sweet spot. It also says that in thr highest setting you can produce an error code. I cant remember what it was for but not serious, the instructions said if it happened just disconnect the batt and it should dissappear.
Long story short. 5 was by far the best allround setting for me. Only went as high a 6 but found it was a bit rough and not as smooth with power delivery. Obviously they are not the same chips but i would guess they are much of a muchness
Good luck

Had it on a Dyno to check fuel air ratio's?
Max fuel rail pressure?

Plenty of stories on the Net of cheap smoke boxes. The injectors fail and you damage your engine.
But these are good ones from Germany.

YMMV

Oooo ... just a hint of sarcasm me thinks?

or were you being serious ... cause everything that comes from Germany is just awesome! Just look at Mercedes ... wait they're made in Mexico.
Or BMW? No that's Mexico too
Audi? Nope
Volkswagen? no ... there must be something "Made in Germany" that's still made there?
Maybe it's these little black boxes???
