I have only done 40000 in the ute and I put the blank in and had carbon build up when I brought it. So egr was and still is fine but for some reason my car didn't like it.. pretty mech savvy too so I did it right.. the code it threw was egr fault code. Not sure what exactly it was as I didn't pay attention. And yeah ML triton fellas 2008 build.

Variflex I am.thi king of doing some more mods but after my wedding g this November. Just didn't want to have to spend coin on it till then..

At what intake air temperature will the egr activate?

From my observations it activates at 7 degrees however it is also relative to engine temps, for example it could be a 40 degree day and the egr won't open until the engine reaches a particular temp

So every thing eles aside. it wont turn on until the air intake temp is 7 degress or more.

Has any one wired it like this. Think its much better have a constant resistance rather then then a sensor and resister in series .

Yes they have and is done to death.

Each approach has a compromise. I find many are not to keen on cutting up the engine loom and taking the sensor out. Also from a legal point, its much more difficult to fit a switch when connected in serries although is doable leaving the sensor out when activated.

Once get these damn plugs sorted (Be a long while off) they will be set as a static value from here.

If you go the resistor mod you don't need the plate. This electrically replaces the plate.

As for ease of use and installation if you're not sure what you're up to electrically you'd be better off pm'ing Tony and buying his kit. He will set it all up for you, post it to you with everything you need other than a crimp tool and it will come with colour instructions. Cut one wire, add 2 crimps and you're pretty much done.

on another note im sure someone on here has done this mod while running a egt set up after doing this mod did you see any increase in temp at all? and what sort of temp should a 2.5 mn be running at?

I saw lower EGT's. About 80 degrees at cruise up the freeway. Now sits between 350 and 450 depending on the gradient

ok so i attempted to do the two wire mod but it did not seem to work. i don't have a scanner atm so i just listed to the egr valve after switching the engine of and it was still operating.
Can i just get a confirmation that this is the way to wire the resistors thanks mike.

There is a 2 wire version floating round earlier in this thread, however, as the guys said just the blue/black will suffice. Might be the throttle body flap you are hearing, not the EGR valve.

I think I will just go to jaycar tomorrow and get some 6k8 resistors and redo it the original way. I've got a scangauge coming this week so that will tell me straight away if it's working correctly what should the scan gauge read. Thanks mike.

You could PM AOF since it was him that posted the two resistor mod. I'm not sure that what you can hear it doing after the engine is off has much of a bearing on anything.

On the scangauge look at the TPS - it should read 99% from memory.

The TPS should always read 99 on the scangauge.

so that 6k8 resiter just goes inline on that blue/black wire? is this the same on the 2.5 mn model?
