Tony are the turbos weak? any idea as to the cause?
Cheers.

They are not that weak, but as I have warned people in the past, pushing them over 30psi can result in an early retirement.
Why people say they are weak is, If you let these VGT's run away they can hit 45psi very quickly. :o Over speed and thrust as such will kill them quickly. ;)
I believe heat is the biggest killer in the tritons.

Many of us run over 23psi with no issues at all. Mine has done over 90000k like this and does a lot of heavy towing. 8-)

Just ordered my Scott's rods 3" turbo back system today, will hopefully have it fitted mid next week, just need to decide on the EGT/boost gauge I want, then off to MRT to upgrade the custom ecutek tune. Hopefully they can pump it up a bit, cause Ive gotten used to the power and just chucked some bigger tyres on which has dulled the acceleration a touch.

Anyone with the 3.2 running this same setup know rough NM/HPfigures your getting?

Check out www.jegs.com I purchased my auto meter EGT and boost gauge from them for 1/4 the price in oz. they were here in 5 days. Check out my shed if you want to see. Also cheaper to order your pods from them.
Keen to get amongst it!!

I was hoping to find one of the dual boost/EGT gauges so I only have one pod in the car but the dual ones I've found only read in F not Celcius.

Ok the results are in and I'm embarrassed to put them up....
the first 2 are standard with ecutec tune.

Next two are with blank in new upper manifold scotts rods 3 inch exhaust and cross country intercooler.
You may also note that ive lost 10 kw on the base run no idea why?
It was tuned with lower boost less fuel but makes more power due to inter-cooler and exhaust.

I welcome any of the diesel Guru comments.
Ill have to take the camper out on a tow mission and see what max egt I get.

At this stage I feel it has been a waste of money doing the zorst and inter-cooler mod.

ECU upgrade by MRT

Torque is what it's all about. It's a oil burner. It's not about how fast you hit the wall but about how far you push the wall :)
But seems to me they are giving you a safe tune, defiantly not pushing it close to the limits.

For the given boost that wouldn't pressurise a match box, I think the result is pretty good. ;)

Certainly a safe tune that you could leave a brick on the accelerator at 100% load untill it ran out of juice.

Out of interest, what's the fuel economy like? Mid 9's?

IMHO I'd be pretty happy with that result.

God knows I've spent way more cash for less in power improvements in other vehicles. Its all part of the game, sometimes you just have to try things for yourself. Suck it and see

I agree they could have pushed it a bit more based on those figures, but honestly it probably boogies along well enough anyway, enjoy the power and reliability.

Tony
I haven't measured the fuel economy yet as work pays for fuel.
However I will do it.
last time I measured the economy was when I was towing our cub camper from Mildura to Adelaide doing 110
it was 15L per hundred but that was with tune but stock.
