Tonneau cover lug removal?

Postby adam0268 on Mon Jul 25, 2016 1:33 pm

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been discussed previously - but I recently picked up my first Triton (2013 GLX - also happens to be my first 4x4) and I'm looking at installing a hard lid on the tray. I understand that the lugs on the outside of the gray (pictured below) were drilled in, and will leave a hole when removed - does anyone have experience with this? I've had a look online for lugs etc to fill the holes but I've had no luck so far.

Cheers!

I've seen some guys driving around with little plastic plugs in the holes. I'm sure you can get them somewhere. Or just leave them there in case you want to go back to a soft cover.

Canoe clips are the ones you need. They have a small (about 6-7mm) head which is smooth. Paint to match and pop them in. The existing lugs need to be drilled out. What you can see is the top of a long pop rivet. Don't drill the hole bigger than your clips' shaft.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

ask & thou shall receive :geek:
>>>link here<<<

I have had a couple break so get some spares as well.

The holes on the ends of the tailgate have another skin very close. You will need to cut the plugs very short.
