I have owned a few 4x4's now and my new Triton is 100% the teachers pet.
The only way i have mad up my recovery kit is to have seen what my mates have. Now being a new forum member i thought what better way to gow not only my kit but maybe yours too, than to post what we all are packing.

Snatch strap
3.5 t rated shackles x4
Good quality leather gloves
Bow saw
Spade
Fire extinguisher (in cab)
Tyre repair kit
Winch extension / tow strap
Winch pulley
Tree trunk protector
Waterproof mat (picnic mat)
Sheet
Wet weather jacket and pants
Torch & spare battery
12v flouro
Wet ones
Various tie down straps
towel + 2 x hand towels
Spare pants, socks & shoes
Roll of toilet paper
Basic, but full, toolkit

I'd post a photo but it's too bloody cold to go outside and start unpacking all this stuff which pretty much lives in the back.

pretty similar setup but with a chainsaw instead of handsaw and a first aid kit & I keep a box of muesli bars, a few cans of stew/beans/whatever & a couple of bottles of water in the back just incase I have to spend the night

It might be a balmy 9 degrees outside but it's a very comfortable 20 inside and after all day outside I'm staying in! Yeah, I know it's going to get colder. Have new beanie, gloves, thermals and fleecy jacket ready.

Since the Triton never gets stuck I don't need no stinking recovery gear.......................

But just in case my mates get stuck I have the following.
Beer
Laughter
Snatch strap
2 x bow jangles
Shovel
Gloves
Recovery hitch
Random abuse
and a tarp.

and a shiny knob?

What's everyone's opinion on that BCF kit? I was thinking of investing in one... the Ironman kit is about the same price as well. I bought one of those tow bar recovery hooks yesterday - that's my first contribution to a long wish list.

I'm off on a 4WD training course on the weekend (sleep over) and the training is a friend of the family so I was gonna grill him on the two kits and get his ideas on them.

I have a snatch strap from them, and its great...use it for pulling out stubs, tractor and shit out of a dam (fallen timber) only problem is its white...so show the dirt! Ohh and ya get a free shirt!

I reckon get it!

Fookin 'ell you guys have some stuff! Lucky the Tritons a ute.

I have the same as Peruano minus the shovel, gloves, tarp and recovery hitch - after all it's normally only a lux that I have to pull out and if my limited gear wont do it I just double up on the beer, laughter and random abuse.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

I bought a set of maxtrax for my trip to stockton over easter, as for if their worth the money i Don't know cos they never came off the roofrack for the whole week, i spose in a way that means the ezydeflater and compressor are worth their money though... :D

don't forget not only what is in your recovery kit as what is on your car.

i'm in a 4wd club and you would not believe how many very new enthusiastic people turn up with the mandatory shackles and straps and no recovery points!! make sure you have front and rear RATED recovery points. Triton has nothing standard on the rear unless you get a towbar. Front one looks a bit marginal to me but i did not look too hard as i now have the bullbar.

If a snatch strap complete with rated shackle and the part of the car that gives way at full strain come hurtling towards you.....it aint pretty.

for all the noobies into the 4wd scene you absolutely should invest in a reasonable quality air compressor and gauge as well as the mandatory straps, shackles and some of the other gear mentioned here but before you go and purchase the whole lot you are better buying some better tyres. Better to never need recovering anyway and decent tyres with lowered pressures make a huge difference.

and the other thing, a snatch strap is useless without another vehicle. If you are new to the scene and don't know your limitations never go 4wding alone.
