Looks like it kinked or twisted and got crushed under the next layer or something? I wouldn't be using it. I changed to rope as wire scared me too much. Not the cheapest though.

Change it!!

Any kink, fray, separation of the wire is bad, causes weak points (I've had one go, now on 4th cable)
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

^^^ like he said ^^^
that cable has had it
In a pinch leave the shitty bit back on the drum 5 turns back....
The breaking strain of the damaged cable has been considerably reduced..

Looks like a good excuse to make the change to rope to me. You'll want a new fairlead if you do too though.
It's a good thing I saw your stick figure family of 7. Your Tarago had me under the impression you were wild and single....

My biggest concern with rope is winching others and double line pulls etc where the rope moves relative to the ground as can be damaged easily. More care required when rigging with rope instead of wire ;-)

As I use spectra and dymena in my trade ...I would suggest that with a winch rope you buy some cheap double braid rope and pull the inner core out and use that as a protector for your dymena..by threading it over your winch rope..and whipping either end..
