Tough Dog Suspension

Postby harrypothead on Mon May 31, 2010 7:37 pm

Hey everyone,

Just new to this site but what I'd like to now is peoples thoughts about tough dog suspensions for ML tritons. Mine is about to get a full set of tough dog in the next few days. Hopefully enhances on road and off road, I didnt want to use spacers and extension shackles personally so I decided on the whole kit.
I'd just like to hear what other trion owners think off them especially off road?
Thanks.

Harry after you have read those posts and more you will find your answers.

Me, tough dog is overpriced for what you get.

Big chance that the rear shocks will rub on the springs, keep an eye on it.

Others here have had that happen.

I would recommend you have a good chat to Brendan at Ultimate Suspension before you spend any money. They are a forum sponsor and give a discount to forum members. They will taylor a setup to your requirements not just sell you a do all off the shelf setup. I cant fault the suspension they fitted to my MN. regards Ronnie Q
I asked an old bike racer once "When I grow up if I could ride motorcyles ?" He said "You can't do both young fella !"

tough dog Suspension

Postby phillipmyers84 on Thu Mar 20, 2014 12:48 pm

I just ordered tough dogs 40mm bore 9 stage adjustable shocks, 500kg rear leaf pack and 1 inch front lift for my MN dual cab work baby.
Any one else running tough dog?
i cant stand my standard suspension it just simply doesn't absorb any of the bumps..... my truck jumps accross the road.

Mate did you have a look at the ultimate suspension? The guys there were nice enough to rip out my Rough dog suspension and put there's in. Haven't looked back and would never go back to rough dog.
It's not Tough unless it's TUFF

Phillip I have the same set up in my triton and I think it's great, it's really about 30mm lift from standard but depends on the balance of your vehicle

Tough dog 2 or 1 inch! I could only get 1 inch it's great, car handles awesome, mine doesn't have much in the back but needed the 500 kg pack and it's not too stiff at all :D

I had Tough Dog all round with 40mm bore 9 stage adjustable struts/shocks and had only done a few easy weekend drives off road throughout the year then went to Fraser Island and the left strut couldn't handle it and all the bushes disintegrated. Hopefully the Old Man Emu struts I now have will handle Cape York this year but I'm much more confident they will.

There seems to be a lot of so-called 'reputable' brands out there that are Chinese or Asian manufactured.

They just don't seem to able to get it right durability wise.... Some are ok (just) for a while, but will drop there guts if worked even moderately hard for a short time.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they do have some damned good ideas.
