Which Snorkel

Postby T_Dogga90 on Mon Jan 31, 2011 6:37 pm

Hi guys im sorry if im clogging the forum with threads.

I am after getting a snorkel now arb wants $495 for a safari snorkel but i have found a airflow snorkel for $375.

My question is are all snorkels just as good as each other or is there one that is better?

cheers
Tony

Search for snorkel. There is a whole thread dedicated to them with heaps of info on all the models. Happy browsing.

Hi Tony and welcome
look in the members builds ... there's a snorkel fitment thread there and you can do it yourself ... its for safari though ... which most on here have ... but its all down to personal choice

I had my Safari snorkel installed 2 years ago and the fitting template was exactly as it should be!!
Other brands has big issues like, incorrect template, cutting out the front flare to fit the snorkel!!
Do your search and you will find some interesting reading. Good Luck on your installing...

Have a look at the Snorkel thread as the guys have said above. Just use search function to find the dedicated thread ;)

The safari is a little bit straighter design in getting the air to the airbox...........I went the TJM Airtec because to me it looked better (lees snorkel running along the gaurd) but it snakes a bit thru the guard to get to the airbox and the mounting bracket isnt as solid as Safari either

There is also Ironman snorkels........but  :?

As much as it pains me to say it................cause ARB are rip off no it all d*#kheads............go the Safari for the snorkel ;)
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

Choosing who installs it is probably more important than the snorkel. ;)

Head to your local TJM store as when i ran a group buy a while ago they were really good and as they are made up there the freight is cheap. ;)
I love the tjm snorkel but also agree that the mounting on the a pillar is abit second rate. :o

Shop around and ask to meet the mechanic in his workshop. Have a look around and ask a few questions to check out his work.

Once you have read the information on this site you could ask -

- How many have you installed?
- Have you ever found the templates to be poorly centred? (answer should be yes for TJM / ironman)
- Do you paint the holes? (answer should be yes)
- What happens if you [censored] it up?

I had a crap install from ARB but it was eventually made good by ARB Head Office.

When you think you have found one, ask people on this forum is they have used the store - chances are someone will have. good luck.

It's a lot easier than you think and there are a few blokes close enough to you to give you a hand ;)

Here's a link to the pics of my install (safari) with help from Joe

Exactly.

Do we have to go through this again? Ironman and Safari install is exactly the same. Same template and everything. I know 'cause I've done both.

Yeah we do ... as every " newbie " ..." no offense Dogga" ... needs to be reassured that they can undertake the job without stuffing their truck ... and regardless of Joes good fortune with iornman ... there's been more botch ups with them compared to safari.. for what ever reason

Try this search link Tony:

http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/search.php?keywords=snorkel&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sr=topics&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

I used the term snorkel and chose to only look in topic titles to get this result, heaps of reading for you, and yes we dont need another which snorkel. All good :D
