Well, installed the Safari today.
Sweet Zombie jesus, what a bitch of a job installing THAT was!
But it's in!! Looks very nice, but have noticed no diff in sound or performance.
Not that I cared, but knowing I won't kill the vehicle every time I splash in water somewhere is a real nice thing.
Oh Quinny. You're in for a real treat ;> 3 hours, my ass, Safari!
I'm going to drop off the Safari template back to Joe when I drop off the hole saws. Let us know how much different they are? The safari was a tiny bit out, but I'm now convinced it's not just the template, but the locale where they install the nutserts in the snorkel body for the mounting threads. A few were NOT straight, and this made a big difference.
Have to say, the Safari overflow bottle looks fantastic. Looks just like a genuine article, and fits perfectly.

Hmm, now, can someone tell me how to get all this bloody black sikaflex off me?

Ah, Beautiful job mate. Beautiful work :D

Its a quality product but... All parts are top notch.

Looks really good. Did you take off the ram head, start her up and put your hand over the top to check for leaks? She should stall and all the hoses suck in.

I installed mine 2 weeks ago and after 1 trip in the dust can HIGHLY recommend a Unifilter ram head filter.

You should see how much dust it saved sucking into my stock filter.... :o

It is normally red with Unifilter written on it. After 1 trip you could not see any writing on it and it certainly wasnt red anymore!!! It had turned brown! :o That was after about 4 hours.

Before that it had stopped bugs, leaves and dirt falling down there and I live in the city! ;)

I recommend the hell outta them. Got mine on ebay about $30. If you have a re-usable unifilter or K and N wouldnt loose to much sleep cos its free to clean and re-use but if, like me, you have a paper filter it will save it heaps! :D

Had to take it off now cos its filthy and I need to find time to clean and re-oil it. But eager to get it back on. Looks good too ;)

just my 2 bobs worth :D :D

Looks good mate, well done. ;)

Looking at the pics reminds me to ask, has anyone changed a headlight globe since fitting the snorkel?

It looks like it could be fun!

LAUGHS!! Yeah, I forgot to put the wiring plug on the indicator, after fitting the rubber hose. Had to remove it to put it back ;) tight alright.

Agree about the snorkel sock and k&n/Uni filter. Next job ;)
Any reason (apart from looks) not to leave the snorkel sock on in the city?

Hmm, only one issue I came across, was the screws fitted in the plastic plugs at the top of the snorkel were too long, and screwing them in pulled the plugs out as they hit the inner steel. Use a shorter screw if you get one.
Personally, I'd piss off the plastic plugs and put in nutserts next time ;)
Otherwise, as said above, the kit is very well done

No I do leave it on all the time. Just off for a clean ;) Gotta find the right filter oil.

Just finished installing my safari snorkel, loved doing up the internal studs! One thing that I did was make up rubber washers using the bottom of some old stubby holders. I cut them up to 20c piece size or so to go in between snorkel and guard, I reckon they made it all come together really nice and there is no noticeable large gap. Should help with vibrations too instead of having hard plastic up against the steel guard.

Only broke two plastic clips in the process of install too so that is not too bad for me!

I've changed park lights quite a few times, headlights a couple of times.... Found it easiest using something to lever the intake pipe, effectively squashing it, to give you the room you need ;)

Still tight though :? But a lot easier :D
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Thanks Fridgie, that's what I wanted to hear. :D

I wasn't looking forward to pulling that duct off again just to change a light globe.

I did mine yesterday, I just took the hose off the box and undid 3 bolts and moved the box out of the way, heaps easier than battery side with dualie in.

Safari or ironman? That coolant bottle in the safari sits right over one of the air box bolts. Nasty to get to.
