Yes. Side airbag sensors are mounted at the bottom of the B Pillar and I dont think anybody will go to the extent of engineering there steps, sliders to comply with ADR rules.

Doesn't stop people from fitting them though ;)

I wonder if a big hit to the side bar would set off the airbag?

I believe they are crush sensors not G force sensors. so they shouldn't. No different to front sensors.

I agree... It's not that you can't install side steps / sliders on the MN. It's that no manufacturers want to go through the process of testing and getting them signed off.

Caveat em tour !!!

I have a MN GLXR with steel side steps and brush rails.. ive copped a few big hits the chassis rails and they havent set the airbags off.. nothing a 2" lift and 265/70/17s wont stop thats about a 3.5 inch lift from standard not sure but maybe another 1/2 and inch at the steps (compared to the standard GLXR steps) and maybe lost 1/2 from the mounting method of the steps to the chassis

i figure if i was standard and did the same thing i would have set the bags off by now.

i wanted sliders but i had a nice offer come up. i love my side steps and i couldnt do away with the actual step function, im aware that there are sliders that have both (www.rocksliders.com.au).

i wanted something that i could stand on, that was a bit more durable then stock, that i could use my hi lift jack on when i need to and something that looks good.

only con i have with them so far is the ammount of mud that it collects. but thats something nothing a bit of hose and tool time cant fix.

Strange you say that as I was in ARB at Coopers Plains (Brisbane) on Saturday and they gave me no indication they weren't compatible. There is an article in their latest news letter saying how they went through all the computer testing for side air bag compatibility and even went out and bought a D40 Navara to do real live testing on. Only thing I didn't like was the price and that you need a full bull bar to attach them to as their steps only come with rails.

I haven't worked out how to up load photos onto this site, something to do with having a Mac, but if you can get hold of the latest copy of ARB's mag or go to the web site and see if you can download it from there, It has an article telling how they went through the testing.

And their catalogue hasn't been updated yet that why it still says about the side air bags not being compatible

Hey Guys,
Its true ARB had their side rails ADR approved for use with the side curtain airbags back in May. I have just ordered a set from ARB in Bairnsdale VIC. Should be fitted mid September by the time they get them colour coded and schedule me into the workshop.

I'm after Arb scrub bars and side step for nm single cab. Now there's a guy running round here with them but Arb says I can't get them as they don't make a scrub bar and side step to suit .... Any ideas other than to cut and shut a dual cab set up???

SRB has some on his but I think he got them from opposite lock rather than ARB. From memory he got dual cab ones and they fit without too much drama - although maybe his is an extra cab come to think of it. :?
