All right been looking at the manual- looks like a twisted main shaft

It could have been caused by the simex- but I have always run 32" mud tyres since the first km put on the vehicle.

The auto may allow the shock forces that break cv's to instead be torque forces twisting the main shaft????

only guessing as with no know failure point who knows- it might have broke turning into a cutting the first time I engaged the front locker- now that could have been interesting reading

Just installed my awning courtesy of 4WDSupplies. Fairly easy I thought, could even do it by the porch light. 4 bolts and the ARB rack seems like it's built to take it. So 6 holes later, it's on.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

Installed breathers to Auto and Transfer case. Yes it is possible.

Changed Transfer and front diff oil. Not nice

Started the sat-nav/dvd install. Got the unit in. It's the best. Well worth removing the on board computer. When l have time I will finish the reversing camera, and may also put up a roof top DVD. should give me some peace.

Re ordered 4x4 crosscountry intercooler so I can make full use of my new exhaust and ecutec tune. Apparently was forgotten about, asked them to put in a drain plug too so I can flush it in situ.

The trusty rig led the charge through flood waters on the way home when others were not up to it. Navigated floating cars on the Nicklin Way on the Sunshine Coast and even rescued the SES. Love that car!!

Hey all!
Thought id make my first post on here!

Today I had new tyres fitted.
I went with Maxxis Bravo 771 - 265/75/16
They feel nice and smooth with next to 0 road noise! Pretty happy with the choice.

I also fitted a new tinted bonnet protector & received an Ipod cable for the factory stereo...

I shall sort out some pics for a garage soon!

Love the info I've been reading on this site, it's been helping me out with ideas heaps... although it's making me destroy my bank account...

fitted my Ipod cable after having it for about 6 months  easy as to, except for my clown hands and the really short cabling to the OEM stereo.

plays and charges at the same time. got it running out of the glovebox. pretty happy with that. :D

I'm looking at doing this tomorrow  Spent the last 2 hrs trying to find info on doing the swap. Is it as simple as unscrewing the old one and replacing it with the new one Brett? I seem to recall a copper washer did the sealing, did you replace that?

it's as easy as that....hardest part was watching my son lift out the battery..........seriously....the limiter is bloody hard to crack it to undo. Once it is, it undoes very easy. I used the same two copper washers as they were in good condition. getting the sockets into place is a pain, but once you work out the distance you have to put the socket on the limiter and make enough room for the ratchet....(or shifter)..... Then it all happens pretty quickly......all up, it took about 20 mins to do.....be keen to hear you thoughts on this mod Steane.....there doesn't appear to be many that have done this mod.........feels great to be able to take it to the limit and not have it die on the limiter

Thanks for that bit of info Brett ;) Reckon I'll give this a go tomorrow. I've been running a higher tune lately and I think the rail limiter bugged out on me today when I was giving it a bit of stick...

I'll let you know how I go. ;)

Interesting to hear that it improves performance :D

In some cases, the Hi spec limiter improves the power even with no chip or tune! The factory job is very fragile and are not all equal. In the early stages a few were pulled apart and inspected. Some had shims fitted even though the same build date and spring spec. Chip it have had a new Higher spec spring manufactured as shimming a linear coil spring is only a temporary fix. We tried it. :D

Its fine to use the old washer. Just do it up red in the face tight, then crack it once more.

Thanks Tony ;) I think to make sure the job is done right and that bugger is nipped up nice and tight, I'm going to need a new socket set 8-) 8-) I love shopping for tools
