At long last fitted the recovery points that's been floating around the garage the last 12 months...

I can confirm that they fit with an XROX bar and Bushskinz bashplates just perfectly. Had to remove the front bashplate, and spent way to long swearing and sweating locating the nuts inside the chassis.. but in the end happy with the result.

Replaced the sump seal and changed the gluw plugs.
Found a nut in the pan from when the stealers dropped it in the engine while trying to do my tappets. It must have been sitting there for the last 5 years. Click to view larger pictureClick to view larger pictureClick to view larger picture

How are these going mate? Any feedback re. offroad performance and on road noise, any effect on economy etc?

I reckon they were nowhere near as good as the latest KO2 BFG A/Terrains Tacticaltriton. I had a set on my Toyata Hilux and they were good at the start and then gradually got worse. Following the grooves etc in the road and gradually getting noisier. I went back to BFG and have always had a great trot from them. I also used to get 100000klms from a set no worries on the old Hilux and my mate got 100000klms from his last set on his landcruiser.

The new MT51's? I knew you'd had the older directional KL71's.

Ah my mistake then. They were great at the start but started to wear really quickly. Hope you get a great run from the ones you got. I love my KO2 BFG's now and after thirty thou they still look like new. :D

Yeah I read they wear pretty quick and get real noisy on road. I'm still a while off getting new tyres, I do want more aggressive ones than the Dick Cepeck Trail Country's I have as they are like slicks in any sort of mud.

It'll be a toss up between the Kumho's and the new Nitto Ridge Grappler...if we get those Down Under that is.

I reckon no matter what tyres you get they all end up as slicks in the mud. The main thing I like about the KO2's is the aggressive side wall as I reckon that helps more in the wet mud than a more aggressive tread does. Usually when its that wet that we need some specialised mud tyres, then its too wet to be out there ha ha

I tend to agree mate and in some areas after even 5mm of rain I won't risk driving the tracks. In recent times though I've hit just some fairly soft slop and been surprised how quick the ute's come to a halt. I've always had more aggressive tyres and I think what I have now has something to do with what's happened a couple of times.

Hence why I want something that's short of a full muddy but more than the typical A/T.

Have a look at the side biters on these:

Yes they look ok too. Nice and chunky for an A/t and look good. Check this ad out, hell their cheap here. Smaller size tyre though. At Bob Jane here you get a free swag with a set of BFGs
