Has anyone found any custom PIDs for the triton?
There is plenty on stuff torque that doesn't show up.
Fuel guage would be nice too!

Those that are using rev how accurate is your average fuel consumption, mine is showing between 19- 30.1 l 100km, and calculating it at the pump I average mid 9,s so it's way off as I expected, anyone know if it needs calibrating thanks

Hi all, just read this thread and am interested in this, can someone confirm what I believe an OBD is?

What I have gathered its a plug in module that reads codes and supplys running data thats viewable through phone app or tab via bluetooth?

Am I on the mark or I have no idea :?

Also if it can clear codes/faults or limps how is this done :?:

Sorry for being a pleb

Obd2 refers to the port (like a usb port etc)

The OBD reader sends this info via bluetooth (or wifi depending on the dongle used) to the phone/tablet.

An application on the phone/tablet then interprets the data for you and displays it.

Different apps have different functions but most will allow you to customise the gauges you can see and clear fault codes.

Here's a couple of screen shots from the torque app on android (no data as in work car but you get the point)

Yeah it reads from the ECU via the OBD protocol and transmits bluetooth that can then be translated by an app or a computer program if you have the right one. If you have an iphone you're stuck with wifi apart from one proprietary system that uses bluetooth which is a bit more expensive from memory. The Elm obd things on ebay are the go. If you're in Sydney I have a spare you could try to see if you like it?

The app clears the code by telling the OBD to wipe the code from the ECU, or something like that. A scangauge or ultragauge will do the same thing but hardwired rather than over bluetooth or wifi.

Hi All,

I searched but couldnt find a particular thread that has the answer.

I have a 2012 challenger with 2.5did.

This morning I bought a wifi dongle and was wondering about the appilcation for an iphone/ipad.

What is best?

I have looked at Rev which seems to have everthing i need such as clear codes etc from the egr blocking plate.

i also love looking at the data side of things too.

cheers

The only other one I tried was Dash command. I found it a bit too complex for my liking - if you're a bit of a tech head it might be worth a look. When I last looked neither was as customisable (easily) as torque on the android platform. If it's just clearing codes I think there were some free options too. I was more after something to add gauges/readouts to the dash when i was looking at the whole issue.

In the instamce of a limp mode shouldn't it throw an engine light at the same time?

Might just remove the egr blank and put a catch can in.. More trouble than what's it's worth by the looks.. Was keen to avoid the carbon build up though since having the manifolds done.

Hey Mudme, do you mean the scan gauge from chip it?. Only reason I was looking at the iPhone ones is because there seems to be a lot of other useful data and logging within some of the the APPs..

have you change your fuel filter lately? if its crappy you will get the same losing boost/power under acceleration at highway speeds and gradually gerts worse

I am currently trying to work out the PID for outside ambient temp for the pb challenger but keen to know if anyone else has worked out other PIDs too. If i work any out i will post here. Fuel gauge would be excellent.

The Palmer performance website had some PID info on it last time I was there. Might be worth a stickybeak?

Weird. Easiest thing would be to find another triton owner nearby with one that works and see what happens with each with a swap. If you're near Sydney you can try one of mine.

The OBD wouldn't give any readout besides volts with engine off.

same when the engine was running. no other readouts. and the obd cannot connet to ecu.

what i did instead was start the engine first. then, inserted the obd scanner to the obd port. thats how it connected with the ecu.

Cheap Bluetooth OBD readers

Postby dbgalaxy5 on Fri Jul 05, 2013 9:50 am

Hi all,

Now I know you get what you pay for, but I am looking for anyone who has purchased a cheap bluetooth OBD reader from that well known auction site, with positive experiences.

I have certainly read a number of comments over the net that they have had problems with some of the cheapest, so I am looking for an idea of how cheap I can go and get a functional unit.

Any and all help appreciated.

I think it depends if you run android or apple. Apple has to run off wifi, which can have dropping out issues.
My OBD2 was less than $10 for bluetooth and runs perfectly - on Android

Thanks all for responses.

Crash486. Apologies. Must have [censored] up my search as I didnt find anything on previous attempt (not that explicitly recommended units anyway) but that thread seems just what I want.

FredSmith,

Was really after Bluetooth, and not wired, but appreciate the contribution.

Im on Android. Do you recall the exact model you purchased?

Anyway, should have plenty of info to be getting on with now. Thanks again.
