Get the shortest one you can, the long ones tend to foul when you change gears (clutch) or move your left leg for any reason.

Works well.

No problem at all. I leave it there all the time and have never hit it. It does stick down a bit but have had no troubles with it.

I have the Mini that was posted earlier. Same seller It works well and does not get kicked or knocked. I had to change it as I wanted to use it with the iPhone and iPad and they will NOT connect via Bluetooth in this way. Apple does not allow the developers to utilise the Bluetooth Stack in the way needed to communicate to the OBD Dongles. I now have the following unit.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wifi-OBD2-OB ... 41635802a0

It works well too. Easy to connect and the iPhone and iPad connect without any stress. Just more expensive.

Does anyone know if turbo boost is displayed on these Iphone apps?

Which IPhone APP is best (one which displays boost)?
Which WiFi dongle is the best?

I have a problem where the vehicle feels like it’s loosing boost intermittently during extended highway driving. This has happened since blocking the egr and swirl control valves (mods suggested here). Have since returned SCV back to normal and still happening. Have left egr blank in for now as I've just recently had upper and lower manifolds replaced (150K) and don’t want the carbon build up reoccurring.. Dealer said they also performed another ECU flash.

Want to get this scan tool happening to see if the vehicle does have a boost issue when the lack of power issue occurs.

When it occurs, the vehicle struggles to make it up a moderate sustained incline at 100km/hr, I have to knock it back a gear..

Rev has a field for boost. Have never tested it though.

As for wifi, I think the kiwi? was the go. Have a look at what's recommended on the rev website though.

Works well, and if you remove the kick panel and pop the obd connector out of its holder.. you can shift it to the side so you dont kick it..
I use obd auto doctor pro on my Nokia N9.

Craig, that sounds like classic limp mode. Mine does the exact same thing since installing the blank. I think the turbo actually turns off altogether.

Don't know about which app for the iPad as I have a android based pad but I use torque, which allows me to clear fault codes (eliminating the limp mode). I still pull over to do that as I'm not sure I can/should do that while drive.

When the problem occurs though it doesn't throw a light.. Just looses boost by the feel, instantly, or as you say turbo turns off and doesn't work at all.. It's happening more regularly now, after about 60 odd Kms of highway driving at 100-110km/hr. I travel 80kms each way and its now happening nearly in the same spot to and from work+- 10kms.

In the instamce of a limp mode shouldn't it throw an engine light at the same time?

Might just remove the egr blank and put a catch can in.. More trouble than what's it's worth by the looks.. Was keen to avoid the carbon build up though since having the manifolds done.

Hey Mudme, do you mean the scan gauge from chip it?. Only reason I was looking at the iPhone ones is because there seems to be a lot of other useful data and logging within some of the the APPs..

Not all limp modes cause a check engine light.

The scangauge is not sold by chipit although they do sell an OBD reader.

There are a variety of ways to stop the blank from causing limp modes but I haven't the time to try and explain them all. There is a whole thread dedicated to EGR blanking though so it's not too hard to find.

In my experience the android apps are much better than the iphone apps but I only tried 3 on the iphone so there might be some newer, better options out now. If it's just for clearing codes it doesn't much matter.

My standard ones are boost, coolant temp, intake temp, rail pressure and maf.

Then chuck on voltage and a few others when I feel like it.

I add RPM and both GPS speed and OBD speed to what Fridgie mentions above. If you use a nexus 7 you can fit tonnes of little readouts... :geek:
