Ark Power Pack -
I just bought one of these to fit in the Triton. :D

http://www.arkcorporation.com/Products/ ... k.tpl.html

It can take up to 140 amp hour battery. I've fitted a 120 amp hour deep cycle. Its a hybrid battery so although a deep cycle still has 675 Cold cranking amps. So it can jump start most things if required.
The main advantage is its portable. I'll mount it in beside the drawer system to run the fridge, but can easy take it out to jump start a car or the mower if necesary. Has its own smart charging, battery monitor, 240 v input charger, 12 v sockets etc.
Should be good to run the Engel for a few days before I need to use the battery in the camper.

Was gonna do a standard under bonnet dual battery instal but decided to go a different way. And I needed a portable power back. But its bloody heavy with the big battery. I'll see how it goes.

PS $169.00 at BCF

Hi guys,
I want to incorporate an anderson plug and lead assembly into my ark power pack. It's the blue and black power pack. Could I drill a hole into the box, feed the leads through and connect it direct to the terminals or would the anderson plug and lead have to be fused?
Its nice to be important, BUT its important to be nice..

There would have to be a fuse in the system somewhere. Closer to the battery, the better

How do you guys set these up? Do you run a cable for charging to tub or just use te 24v charger and recharge at home?

I plan on running a cable from a redarc isolater to the tub and a couple of Anderson plugs so it quick to pull the arkpak out.
I've just got to work out how to get the cables into the tub if anybody has any ideas??

There's a thread on that somewhere about going in on filler side. Somebody else may chime in.

You can buy a battery box with a 12v socket for $18 at repco atm does excatly the same thing only difference is with the money left over you can buy a inverter lol thats what i ended up doing i couldnt justify the money for the ark

You could but wouldn't have the built in charger, also these are premade for us lazy people or also for people with out electrical skills or tools to be able to make one

I was looking at this power pack today to use as part of a dual battery system with a Pirahna isolator. Seems like it would work quite well as it would eliminate the need for extra wiring around to the fridge etc.

I ended up with a redarc isolater but have also ordered a 80w solar panel to truckle charge which will sit on the roof racks and uses alligator clips so the fridge should be self surfficent when im away working lol

Pretty sure it has a 240AC plug in charger to charge from, to charge with 12vDC you would have to connect a trickle charger or solar panel etc
Happy to be told otherwise as I am looking at one of these as part of a dual battery setup for the MN

The more expensive version I think comes with cigarette lighter adapter, the older, cheaper version you can buy an expensive cable from arc, or make your own but needs a regulator in line, as well as with solar panels, they will need some sort of regulator!

I just acquired one of these Power Packs off fraz after doing a bit of research on different set ups. A dual battery kit isn't ideal for me as I'm always in and out of different vehicles. Having a portable power source also allows me to leave the fridge and wife at the campsite when I go fishing with the guys ;)

The only issue I have with the ARK Power Pack is the charger output. It's only 1.5amps which is very slow. Going off figures on navara.asia, that means a half-discharged 130Ah battery would work out at 65/1.5 = 43 hours to recharge (at a minimum, it will actually take longer). Alright for at home but useless on the road.

If your battery will not run for the entire trip, you need to set up another charging system like solar panels or off the alternator.

The top of the range ARK PAK is apparently very noisey to the point where people say you can't travel in the car with it.

You could still charge it with a normal charger with clamps on the two posts up the top. I'm thinking I will build some Anderson plugs into it somewhere so that I can either connect it to the ctek in the truck or to the solar panel. Come to think of it I might add a ctek connector (can't remember what they call them) for easy connection at home as well.

I just received my Ark powerpack which I got as part of Roothys high jack combo deal.
Would like to set it up in my rear tray as a duel battery setup (removable) so I can take it out and use it at camp as well.
I already have battery wires running to the underneath of my tray running my hard wired ARB compressor/tyre pump.
Anyone in Brisbane know how to set this up for me?
Bruno.

I copied Quinny :D

Any size will do, I set my photo bucket up to automatically resize when uploading (640x480 from memory) but if it's bigger, the lazy buggers can just click on it for the full picture ;-)
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???
