bought a new Mitsi cab/chassis and made my own pantech body.
Would like to know if this Scangauge http://www.scangauge.com/ would work with the Triton 3.2.
If it does work where would it plug in.

Delighted ex Lowlux owner and saved $5k. Triton is sensational tow vehicle and powers up the hills with and without caravan.

Yes, the ScanGauge works with the Triton Diesel (but not the Pajero!).
Not all of the "digital gauge' functions work (ie are reported") but here is a list of the functions and what is reported on mine

Function / abbreviation / reported
Fuel System Loop Status / LP / No
Intake Air Temperature / cIA / Yes
Water Temperature / cWT / Yes
Fuel Pressure / FPR / No
Litres per Hour / LPR / Yes
Ignition Timing / IGN / No
Engine Loading / LOD / No
Litres per 100km / LHK / Yes
Kilometres per Hour / KPH / Yes
Manifold Absolute Pressure / MAP / Yes
Throttle Position Sensor / TPS / Yes (but gives some strange readings)
Voltage / VLT / Yes
Plus all the trip computer stuff works.

You can get them from me at Ample Outdoors - Australian ScanGauge Sales

The OBDII port is just under the dash between the centre console and the fuel filler release lever.

So is the manifold absolute pressure the same as boost pressure :-)
Also I presume the intake temp is taken after the intercooler is this correct :-) :-)

That is a great bit of news. Thanks Freestylecab.

I've been searching all the forums for the name (scanguage) after reading about this some time ago. So you have answered 2 questions at once.

I believe the MAP indicates the boost pressure + atmospheric pressure

The intake temp is after the intercooler. It always reads well above the ambient temp reported on the Triton LCD display, but well below what it would be straight out of a super hot turbo, so I assume it has been cooled by the intercooler.

Believe it or not I am the I.T. guy in the office, so it is upto me to get the store running....
I spent a few hours on it last week, but it is only in its most basic form.
It will be some time soon (avoiding answering the question)

You can purchase over the phone or via our recently setup ebay store.

Thanks for the info mate 8-)
Does it give you an EGT read out and if not can you hook a thermo couple up to it for a temp readout :-)

Our latest batch of scangauges due to arrive soon, have the new firmware with the XGAUGE functionality added to it. Which is the ability to add additional gauges other than the 12 standard ones. If the Triton engine management computer monitors the temp of the exhaust gas then theroetically if the correct codes were found, you could program the Scangauge to display the EGT.

There are general codes available for a few brands and some vehicle specific codes here but as the Triton is not available in the USA, I doubt we will get any code information specific to our Tritons listed on the official website.

The Scangauge only reads information sent through the OBDII port, so unless the you can connect a temp sensor via the ECU, I think you might be out of luck. Maybe a standalone temperature gauge and sensor to monitor the EGT is your best bet.

Thanks for the information.
Would have been great towing if the 'Engine Loading / LOD / No' functioned.

How much difficulty did you have in setting the unit up?
How accurate have you found the trip meters in relation to fuel consumption and distance to go?

I was under the impression that the MAP reading on the Scanguage needed to have barometric pressure subtracted from it for it to be an accurate boost reading? Disclaimer: I could also be talking boost pressure out my arse as I'm no expert 8-)

Freestylecab.
you seem pretty up to speed with the scangauge, so I wonder if you could answer this question.
Can you hook up the scangauge to an external source- carputer type thing.

Specifically I'm looking to replace the standard middle screen with a carputer but would still like the dist to empty etc functions that the vehicle has as standard. hence the scangauge as an option.

Prefer it all to be together as well, rather than a screen for the GPS, scangauge, dvd etc???

There are several packages for that, 4wd. Have a look at http://www.digimoto.com/shop.htm for example. Reasonably priced as well.

I stand corrected (I am no expert either). Atmospheric pressure does have to be taken into account. I lack the edjumacation to understand it.....my head hurts. 8-)

No, from my experience with the scangauge it will not act as an OBDII interface for a carputer. It is a stand alone device.

Henk Bos has steered you in the right direction it seems.

Subi, one would be absolute pressure the other gauge pressure!

Freestyle, the TPS is only for petrol cars, diesels do not have a throttle. That could be your strange readings. If it's petrol, the TPS won't be linked via cable so will be independent of what you do with the pedal.

Here's a question for you guys who have purchased a Scanguage.

Since it is connected to the ECU, I'm guessing it reports the same details (for fuel consumption and speeds) that is already reported on the multifunction in the dash.

With our much talked about up to 6% speedo over read does the scanguage also over read for the speed and thus the fuel readings would also be out?

Just thinking out loud.

Using a GPS, you can set the correct speed in the Scangauge.

The scangauge calculates fuel usage, but you can use the fillup function to enter exactly how many litres you just put in the tank, and the scangauge "refines" its fuel consumption figures accordingly.

Accuracy improves the more you use the fillup function.

Remember www.scangauge.com.au

Cool Sounds like a good idea then. As i just said in another topic. Just put in 62l and MFD said i was on 0DTE and red light was on. Heck theres a 75l tank isn't there. Might be a way to keep an eye on that. Add another thing to the wishlist.
