Hi tryton08 have you checked the bolts on your exhaust ? On my old falcon i had similar sounds when cold but once the pipe had heated and expanded it stopped. A quick tighten up and no more loud noise when cold

Hi Joel no I hadn't thought of that but the sound seems to come from the left side. No sign of any soot around exhaust manifold which I imagine you would get if I had an exhaust leak in that area.
Been busy with kids lately so I haven't had a chance to look much more or catch up with my mate to try another chip. I disconnected my chip late last week car heaps quieter just lacks go. Oh well :(

need help as I'm not that computer savvy! I've just got my hands on a chip it chip and have install it ok but I want to check the tune etc, I grabbed the missus laptop and had a try but can't seem to get it to connect to the chip, I've read the instructions that are on the USB but still struggling ! so I have the USB serial adapter cord as laptop has no serial port, do I just install the file for the adaptor that's on the USB stick ? or do I need to download some program as well ? which there was a link to in the instructions ? can some one please walk me through this?

ChipIt & EcuTek Discussion

Postby snakesoup on Tue Dec 20, 2016 5:44 pm

ok I got it sorted, just had to change the com port to com 3 and it connected, it was on tune 5, I changed it to tune 6 and then went for a spin, I dunno but seat of the pants wasn't that impressive, didn't seem to help with the MN lag at all.... should it help with the turbo lag? didn't notice any smoke at all, should I go up another tune to 7 or 8 ??

Sounds like the 219 model running 5 volts - hence 5v on the end of 219.

Did you buy it from an MN owner?

Apparently it should have a serial number?

Does it have a separate earth wire?

If you post a photo of it I'll try to get further details from the last remaining master of such things who happens to be standing 5 feet away at the moment.

Also if you know where it is drawing its power from can you post details of that too?

Yeah according to Tony there were multiple versions of the 219 and multiple versions of the 5v version. The serial number should narrow that down properly. There were some issues with some of the 5v ones in terms of power supplies which is why they chopped and changed a bit.

To test if it is working, connect the laptop to the chip, open the macrotuner app, run the engine and press the polling button in the software. It should display input and output figures. If it is working the output figures will be smaller in millivolts than the input figures.

thanks for that Dave, I'll give it a go, I now think that it is working alright, as when I put it on tune 10 it was blowing a bit of smoke off boost, I've now put it on tune 5 again, I went for a run this Arvo and it will pull 120 in third ok so think there is an improvement there, it's just not as in ya face as much as what I was expecting.. I'm interested to see how the economy goes so I'll drive it normal and keep an eye on that over the next couple weeks.

Hi guys hopefully this is in the right section, spent about an hour searching with no luck.

So I've got an old chip it injector module on my 3.2, the one that only connects to each injector and batt/earth wires aswell.

Question is, anyone have the instructions for turning it up/down with the jumpers? I do remember it only has 4 settings apparently and had it set on the base setting when I first got it years ago.

I'm looking to turn it up a bit now that I've got a hd clutch and egt gauge to keep an eye on it.

Cheers.
