I bought one of these light bars last year from a gun show I've used it hunting and on the road and its works great with no complaints
It did take me an hour  to figure out how to mount the brackets to it tho

2 spots, 1 spread. It will take the 2 spots to throw enough light for long range when all 3 are lighting up the foreground.

TBH I'd just save up and buy a pair of the latest 225 HID's in spread. I love mine!

Good peripheral spread with two big horizontal hot spots out yonder.

Paid $600 for mine, with loom, delivered, off eGay.

I have just finished my spotlight install. the plug and play wiring harnesses are awesome. I ditched the supplied mouse button in favor for the lightforce switch that goes in the blank next to the rear diff lock switch. I had a pair of spread extreme sports from ARB, upgraded one of the spreads to a spot. even though they not HID's or LED's, they are a big step over the standard high beam.

Today I ordered a few led light bars. For the front of bullbar a 20" 210W bar and for the sides of the bullbar (on a slight angle) I have two 7" 36W flood beams. Should be an ample amount of light.
Hopefully they arrive before this weekend to install.

This was solid advice, i managed to get a bar as i previously had linked. and its worked perfectly. To anyone else wanting to know if they are any good. For 40 dollars from super cheap they work a treat and they are solid too

I think I'm going to try one of the slightly different design "WOW Number Plate Holders" found here:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WOW-Number-P ... 2010098906

If I flip it upside down and hang a 32" light bar (5-6kg) do you still think the mount would be solid enough?

Probably. Only problem I see is that it may not be wide enough to match the mounting points on your light bar.

Cheers 5th. I was looking at light bars with side mounts but this solution looks the easiest for me so may change to these bars which have sliding bottom mounts.

http://www.stedi.com.au/160w-cree-led-l ... l#lightbox[rotation]/0/

This way the mounts will be in about a third (200-300mm) from each end. I'm planning to flip it so the mounting tab is behind the number plate which will position the front of the bar close to flush with the number plate. I'll need to cut a section out of the grill to make it work - makes me nervous!

There isn't much security with these mounts though. 2 phillips head screws and anyone could walk away with your number plate and lights.

I fitted factory fogs to my ml glx, its a road runner cart horse and just didnt like looking at the blanks and wanted fogs on them whether I would use them or not. They were wired to a seperate switch that was on my dash from the previous owner. I'm really happy I did it.

FROTH, have a read through this thread which mainly covers driving lights but should answer most of your questions. If not post up here with any specifics.

In terms of HID lights what do people recommend, 1 spot 1 wide beam or go with 2 wide beams? I'm looking at the Narva 225's, so if anyone has photos would appreciate it.

I know it also comes down to the type of driving going to be done, but I'm thinking that I want more spread for roos etc. than laser beams shining down the road

Answered your own question.
Go with 2 spreads.
That is always my preference.

If you look into the purchase of some Fyrlyts you can change from spot to flood to suit the terain

Have done a bit more research on the Narva's and the Fyrlyts, think I'm going to go with the Narva's in a 2x spread. For the price that they are, cant go wrong.

Will post pictures once there fitted :)

That's what I fitted mate, and I have to say they are the best of both worlds IMO.

Good spread out to the side fairly close to the vehicle, and two great big horizontal hotpots in the middle that go quite a distance down the road.

Some people grizzle and groan that HID lights tend to bounce a lot of light back off reflective signs - that is true and should come as no surprise, it's not rocket science. More light out the front, specifically more directional light, equals more coming back off reflective surfaces.

It is only an issue, if you'd even call it that, on the freeway - when you're on the backroads of course there's nothing large and reflective.

I agonised for a while about light bar vs spotlights - TBH light bars haven't been fully developed yet IMO. And I know a bit about LED technology because I build, import and sell high performance LED torches.

And most light bars aren't using the latest and greatest technology that's out there.

Oh yeah - a mate has Fyrlyts on his Cruiser and for a halogen light they are very good and the build quality seems good too.

is anyone using or have seen the rigid industries lightbars? how do they stack against the ebay stuff being so pricy wondering if they are worth the cash.
I do a lot of night driving going to work and going on camping trips etc, currently using a ebay lightbar 26inch with lightforce halogens 240 xgt though they work great, xgt's throw spot out 600+metres, was looking at the fyrlyts nemesis to replace the xgt next year.

The Rigid lightbars are much better than the Ebay cheapies, BUT the Fyrlyt Nemesis will replace both the lightbar AND the XGTs.
