In preparation for my carPC, there is now a Kenwood headunit in my dash 8-) The following is the speaker and power wire colour codes for anyone installing an aftermarket headunit (2007 GLX-R).

    White/Red strip - Front right spkr +ve
Black/Red strip - Front right spkr -ve
    Black/Blue strip - Front left spkr +ve
White/Blue strip - Front left spkr -ve

    Grey/Red strip - Rear right spkr +ve
Yellow/Red strip - Rear right spkr -ve
    Grey/Blue strip - Rear left spkr +ve
Yellow/Blue strip - Rear left spkr -ve

    Red/White strip - 12V+ constant
    Blue - 12V+ ignition
    Black - Earth

There were several other wires that weren't used in my installation (just taped up)

Good work Subi. I'm yet to travel this path but will have to when I decide whether digital radio goes in the PC (plus amp) or new headunit (with some sort of display).
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

Thanks mate. I picked this Kenwood one up on special for $115 bucks - my good cheap way around the PC tuner (or lack thereof) issue 8-)

Hi All
In the wiring diagram there are 3 more cables not sure of the colours but as you look at the plug from left to right on the top row the 3rd one is the mute one and the 4th one is for the mp trigger in the premium sound packge and botton row 3rd left is the lights in the original head unit.
Hope this helps others as i replaced my head unit but kept the speakers and the amp.

Just curious! Thought about putting an Alpine head unit in but Tonkins told me most of my display unit above the stereo wouldnt work properly after?? Only some functions?? Is this true or only in relation to seeing which channel the radio is on or which number song off of a CD??

If your new headunit is wired in correctly, your multi-function display will still work properly in terms of temp, compass, trip computer etc. All you will lose is the radio frequency/cd track info. Even the factory bluetooth will still work 8-)

Hey, for the stupid (me), does "mute one" mean mute or a null cable? Also, by lights do you mean the dimmer?

Cheers,

Hi there.

I just got my new triton 2 weeks ago.

Love the new 4x4, but the sound ain't so good...

Planning on installing an Alpine headunit with JBL splits front and rear.

Do you guys use the standard speaker cables or fit some aftermarket ones ?

Will there be a big diffirence between the standard or something like monster cable ?

Will it be very difficult to route the new cables to the doors ?

I left the standard wires and found them adequate.

I put an Alpine CDE-103EBT head unit in my VR. The standard speakers alone sound much better than they did with the stock unit powering them. I will have to find some paper I was using as the wires Subi has put up did not all match in my vehicle. Some different colours all together but most were the same. Will most likely upgrade the speakers too. Tonkins have a Focal set on special at the moment. Have heard the speaker at Tonkins but not the sub woofer!http://www.cam.net.au/catalogue.html

Hi all.
I have just replaced my single din head unit (W676). I patched the new harness into the existing so that the original plug remains as well.
I have a problem that the sound is not working with the new head. It powers up and operates fine though

Did you have to do something with the smaller white plug that connects to the screen above? When this in unplugged there is no sound. Even with the old head. So I am guessing this is probably the issue.

I have a GLXR ML 2009.
Any help would be appreciated

Does anyone know if the display cluster out of a GLX-R will plug into a GLX, is there a plug there? Just wanted to find out as I wanted it for keeping and eye on fuel usage etc. Thanks

Unfortunately you'll have to find out yourself as it may or may not going by Mitsubishi logic

'09 was a bit of a mixmatch year with the end of ml start of mn production..... Some strange stuff happens amongst those models... But there have also been plenty of other instances of things deleted/added mid production run.

As for using it for fuel economy, wouldn't bother even if they display was free ;)
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Hey guys,

Can anyone confirm if the colours listed in the 1st post of this topic also apply to a 2014 MN?

I've been searching through the directory for something more up to date but no luck so far.
