Yeah rawlos, head mech at Chaddy Mitsu is more than happy to let on the scale of the problem - whilst there is no definite fix, at least he's being accommodating and helpful when i have issues...

No it chucks no fault codes...

I just installed Snowmans plate and set up his Scangauge. I also adjusted his stock wastegate actuator up to 16.7 PSI. He was over the moon with the results...

Does anybody who has done this mod have an EGT probe/guage fitted to their Triton?

Well if the valve is EGR valve closes over 2500RPM as i understand it, I dont think there would be a problem with high EGT. From what i understand from reading up on the introduction of exhaust into the inlet it does lower exhaust gas temperature. But the EGR valve is closed over 2500RPM and full throttle above those revs. So basically it is running under the same conditions above those revs.

Would love to know how dirty hot exhaust gases can lower EGT's I would have thought it would be the opposite :? :?

I think they cool them first and because they're inert they reduce the energy released from combustion. The combination reduces the EGT, at least that's the theory????

:) Well I finally got to install plate.
No engine light :D
No problems getting bolts undone :D
3500 km on clock.

I decided to remove EGR pipe from manifold to cooler to check how much carbon had been deposited.

I do a lot of short distance running during the week,-its only 3 km to work & the engine does not get a chance to warm up, so I do attribute extra carbon build up to this. (I know I should walk but I'm lazy, besides if my pager goes off I need to get to the fire station to turn out (Volunteer CFA Firefighter... Good excuse for being lazy  )

I was considering splitting the gasket, but when I looked I could slip the plate in between the gasket plates (3 sections attached together) I slid it in & lined up the bolt holes. It fitted well. I left the 2 piece section toward the manifold & 1 piece at the EGR pipe.

Unless the stealer removes the pipe I don't think there's any way they can tell its there. Besides I don't think a 1st or 2nd year apprentice is that smart. (after all that's who does the work isn't it? We just pay top dollar for them to learn & make mistakes on our cars :x )

I also spoke to a friend yesterday- Qualified Diesel Mechanic & he says blocking the EGR valve would be one of the first things he would do.
He also has had a look over the TRI & is very impressed with the build quality, strength & design of chassis, & overall design. :D Our fire brigade vehicle is a Lux & he is not a fan of them :) He says the TRI is a much better vehicle.

Like we didn't already know that

Here is some photos... more to follow
& remember this has only done 3500km... It has to be a problem long term.
