substitue for Rhino liner

Postby jacko on Tue May 27, 2008 9:16 am

I have just applied a lining in my ute that would be almost identical to Rhino liner. Its called GRIP SET 51, its a waterproofer thats rubber based it is used for waterproofing on construction sites, you can pick it up in bunnings a 4L tub cost $49, and i used a roller to apply and the stuff is great, so if you are after a liner for a good price giv it a go.

Mate that's a great idea! I've used that product before along with the fabric to reinforce an dodgy brick wall that couldn't be taken down so it has some strength and I'd guess it'd be pretty durable.

I might look at this if the mits blokes keep buggering my liner.

Gripset 51 is distributed in Sydney by a company called Newcombe Sales and is used widely in both commercial and domestic applications, just remember when applying the product..... light coats and build on that.............and allow a reasonable time between coats. It is not a one coat application.

Checked this out in Bunnings today and the can states "not for trafficable areas", so I am dead keen to see how this wears before splashing (pun intended) out for it.

i have the second coat on and have baked it in the sun for a few hours it looks the same as the picks above just a little thicker and that was with a 4L tub and as for trafficable areas it depends what your carrying in it,if you are carrying gravel you really dont want something grippy, i will only have the dog or luggage or the shopping in it, i carried a pretty heavy load of boxes full of frozen food the other day and it gripped on and when i lifted them up the liner was fine, im loading it up this weekend with luggage and going to tamworth so will see how that goes.
