Not worried about the tyres staying in the guards as they will be play tyres only. The 265's on the +15's could be argued that they are in or out of the guards, they are that close

Im pretty sure simex do a 245/85/16. Measures just a hair under 33" I think. Like 32.8 or thereabouts.

yep but we both want to stretch that to closer to 34".

need to work out offsets and what needs doing to fit.

Finally found the thread I was looking for comparing 255/85/16 sizes.
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/14555-Toyo-MT-255-85R16-(and-comparison-pics)
pics in the above

a definitive post on all things narrow and tall
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/24853-The-255-85R16-Tire-Official-List

although this is interesting for those with 18" rims
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f15/what-narrowest-35-tire-available-830510/#post7703273

And be aware that the BFG KM'2 come out in the USA in a 255/80/17 size- pretty nice option for stock rims.

BUT be warned- a guide for tyres as you go higher in diameter you should also increase your track for rollover stability.

not meaning to hijack, but from what i have read in this topic only, if u were to have a 50mm body lift and 50mm suspension lift you could fit 35"s on the front? some of us need not worry about the back ;)

Are you saying that these tyres on +15 rims will foul the flares or guard. Kwijibo runs a 305 tyre on a 0 offset rim and he only mentioned rubbing on the mud flap. His Claws are a 33.5 though. I think Johnno runs a 285/75/16 on a 0 offset rim as well

i heard it firstly involved the use an angle grinder....... :o

The 10.5 is the width garth in case you haven't been told ;)

I can't see you having too much of an issue but as said even if you went for a 9.5 once you air down you'll still get a good foot print and awesome grip :D . On my ifs 4runa I used to run 33x12.5x15 claws and only removed the flaps and never had an issue. Different car but ifs is ifs in my books

Do any of the guys down there you went out with have a set to do a trial fit and see how much room you'll have :?:

Yes I think you are right there Snowie...

Mine rub the inside edge of the mud flaps with no compression on full lock at 32's with +0 offset due to the angle the outside corner of the tyre comes in at...Kyles would tear it off and then some.

I think 26 and Haro have a good suggestion on going skinnier tall tyres....I am now pretty well convinced that they perform better than the identical wider tyre in all 4wd conditions (always knew that with sand driving) and would also help as far as options on offset and flares etc are concerned.

Thats odd Homer as my 32's with +15 offset are not even close to touching anything, even at maximum articulation.

Anyway, Contacted the Australian importer for Simex tyres and he recommends the 33x10.5x16 which measures 33.7" OD and 265 wide. Will see if the distributer can get some in, none in the country at the moment, and i will see how they fit 8-)

The section measurement given on te web site is the widest section on the tyre not the tread :?

I know I can go a 255/85/16 tyre without a problem but they are not the sticky tyres that I am after. There is only a few in this rangle and are basically what the comp boys use. Not many to choise from in the 32" to 34" range

Yeah it's amazing the difference just a little bit of offset makes :?

It's the very outside edge of the tyre hitting the very inside edge of the guard and only at 100% lock - crapped myself the first time as it took a couple of days before I was at full lock so wasn't expecting any undue noises... with the MT's it sounds almost like the hubs trying to engage if you know that noise.

As homer said my wheels would have ripped all sorts of plastic off... mainly to blame is the offset, several members here run 285's on std sussy and only just rub even with mud flaps still on (with std rims) if i had +38 offset with the lift it might be a different story for me... but anyway this is how i butchered my guard(others have melted plastic back onto the guard, i just cut the bastard out and glued rubber mat in place following curve of the guard, its not supposed to be pretty  ), and how far away the wheel is on full lock (i get no scrubbing in any situation) with a better offset i could go bigger...

Seriously, you guys are not helping in any way shape or form. And Queensland suck.
Back on track, it seems that the +15 offest seems to be better than the 0 offset. I spoke to the distributer taday and he cleared up some things for me. 33x10.5x16 have a OD iof 33.4" and a width of 265. That works out at 265/85/16 in metric talk so the narrow taller trend still applies so i an going to order a set of those
Problem, none in the country  and no ETA
looks like it is going to be next financial year at least.

At least we saved you buying a set of zero offset rims then having to sell them ;)

Missed out on those tyres on Ebay because I got tangled up with a customer. They went for $610. I was willing to pay more than that
