FWIW -

I met Ken many years ago when he did up a Defender for me - and the difference was amazing !

He's a very decent and honest guy who knows what he's talking about and the work they do is first class.

Ok everyone,

I am sitting in Ingleburn just down the road from Ultimate Suspension nervously waiting for my complete suspension to be done by Ken.

The full kit is going on and the Newtriton.net price is great. If this turns out as good as what my expectations are I think this could be a real winner, better price than Dobinsons, Ironman etc. and next to nothing for saving me the pain if I was to install it myself.

I'm excited.

I have just driven home from Sydney, 200 highway km's, and wow what a difference, solid as a rock. It has lost that Range Rover roll around corners and roundabouts, there is absolutely minimal dive under breaks and I am sure you would expect it rides a lot, lot better as well.

580mm Front R
630mm Rear R

Ken's goal was to have 50mm as the ideal diff between front and rear, when I measure in the daylight it may be a +-1mm here or there. But how is that for spot on.

Ken's setup was done so that there was minimal impact with the lift on CV's and other front end components and the rear was done to suit my comfort ride low carry weight requirement.

He is expecting zero sag, thats it, none, zilch, he says good products should not sag at all, that is also considering my bar and winch up front. If for some reason it does it will be fixed at the 1000km service/inspection but supposedly highly unlikely. Ken also regards 10mm as sag which would be fixed.

Thats all I can say for the moment.

Hi Daryn, that's excellent mate, very wise choice. I visited Ken a few months ago, checked out his kits and they are excellent, the way his massive Hilux drive is amazing as well, could not believe how stable it is, especially going around round-a-bouts at speed.

Look forward to checking out the pics.

Daryn, in the last photo look at the stress placed on the rear brake hoses....YOU will have to replace these. BTW did you know that Ken and Martin used to work together.... Enjoy the new ride

Yes, I have noticed the stress on the rear brake line and suspected that they will need replacing, I was glad that I was able to get the suspension to these points so soon to see this rather than finding out on a day trip.

Is Martin from Dobbies ?

That is the rubber boot of the shock moved slightly off centre.

I was glad that I took the photos because I can look and analyse it more without going back to the bush.

What damage ($) are you looking at for extended brake lines guys?

Just an update, Ken phoned me this afternoon after I emailed him the above pics and was disappointed that the boys did not pick up on the Brake Line at install time, so at the 1000km service both brake line and longer rear shock boots will be attended to.

I will update on this after that time.

So I finally got down to Ultimate for my bit late 1000km checkup Wednesday just gone, as from my pics above and what was also keenly spotted by few was that my rear brake lines were stressing and the shock boot was not long enough.

The staff got onto the job and completed the following:

Attached longer brake hose brackets on the diff for both sides, put a very large spacer to reposition line on top of centre diff housing and also installed longer diff breather hose.

This is just a shot of the rear springs and shock

And the front Strut and coil with collars to suit height

My heights are
Front - 582mm
Rear- 630mm

I am hoping the front will sag about 5 to 10mm.

Never less I did not expect Ultimate Suspension to go to this trouble for allowing the rear to achieve full articulation without stressing any other rear components. They get 5 Stars for this.

Anyway I am in Newcastle and if anyone ever wants to suss out my suspension before buying please let us know, I have said so before but I cannot recommend Ultimate Suspension more highly on Service, Price, Product and Performance.

I just need to now go and get dirty and take some new pics.

I was on the the phone to Ultimate in Sydney.

Unfortunately there are no distributors for Ultimate Suspension in Brisbane.

No not missing anything Austblue - would preferred to have gone though one of their distributors is all. Obvioulsy trying to avoid any cross warranty issues from Ultimate and the Installer and the ensuing cluster-f**k that could occur.

After a couple of phone calls to Ultimate since my first post, they have given me the name of a Company up here where I can get their suspension installed and guaranteed and any post insstallation checks and work done.

So I would have to say that even through the 'enquiry' stage these guys have been bloody helpful.
