Fuel Injector Connectors

Postby tcrow on Sun Nov 13, 2016 12:01 pm

Hi All

Apologies if there is already a thread on this topic, I have searched and can not find anything.
Over the past few days I did a manifold clean and my valve clearances (what a total ##$@**), all went well(ish) and I had no CEL's once I got it all back together. However, in my infinite wisdom I thought it would be a good idea to spray the fuel injector connectors with contact cleaner prior to reassembly. Not such a great idea as it seems to have swollen the rubber seals inside them and they would not clip back on  . So to get the thing going again I just removed the seals from the connectors, all good for a short term solution but I will obviously need to replace them in due course.

Does anyone have any experience with replacing fuel injector connectors. I have found that you can buy them online in two forms, with a pigtail lead which requires cutting and joining or you can use a removal tool to slide the pins out of the connector and just replace the plug.

Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

Why not just buy the cheapest ones and transfer the seals across?

Yeah I had thought of that, but it's a bit hard to get them out of the plug with out damaging them.
They're pretty cheap maybe I'll just by some extras and try that.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess the ideal would be to find the seals on their own?

Can you remember the name of the connectors? I never can. Are they EV6 or EV2 or something like that? If you can save me a few minutes with that detail I'll have a poke around and see if I can track down the seals or the components in parts rather than assembled. I've spent more than a few hours looking at plug bits lately so might have a chance of finding what you need.

I'm fairly sure that they are a Denso injector, however I'm not too sure if they are a type A, or type A2 I will have to take my engine cover off again to confirm.

From what I've seen the EV6 is a USCAR type, not sure about the EV1.

Did you manage to find out what the plug is? I am trying to hunt down the rectangular seal that goes in the plug.

Have you tried lubing them with dielectric silicone grease?

That stuff has worked for me in similar circumstances when electrical connector seals wouldn't play the game.

I could but the issue is it pinches up and causes the plug not to seat correctly, it completely screwed.
