Run in vs fuel usage

Postby Rienoh on Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:16 am

Hi guys,

Just a quick question do you think that your Triton (diesel) uses less fuel with a few more kms?

I know my VZ ute used a bit less once it got around 10k on the clock.

Just interested.

Thanks

hard to tell with mine as I have steadily added bits and pieces so it wouldn't be a good comparison. but if you kept it stock i believe when the engine frees up abit it should get slightly better economy. :?

My fuel usage is still the same as when I bought it but as Boycee has done, plenty has been added over the time. Started out at low 10s /100km as a raw VR then bullbar and canopy (with racks) were added. This was only slightly detrimental to economy (about 0.5ltr/100). Then added a lift which didn't make much difference at all. The economy has dropped back to low 10's since all this was added. I found mine started to free up nicely at about 15,000km as well. 8-)
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

Well I have put a few tanks through it now and im pretty happy with the results

First tank 9.4/100
Second 9.1/100
Last 10.3/100

I have had the new tyres on for the last tank and had a fair bit more of a play in 4wd than with the other 2. All tanks have had some 4wd, highway and town so I am pretty happy.

I will have to see what she uses when the rest of the gear is bolted on.

Went to brissy on the weekend - 30% town driving and 70% highway kms travelled 566kms fuel used 59.83L so 10.57L/100kms not bad for a auto DID.
