Fuel Economy Petrol MY09

Postby nicktinalilly on Wed Oct 21, 2009 8:29 pm

Hi Guys,

I've got the MY09 Petrol auto with everything standard except an added twobar (TAG). I noticed over the past few months the fueld economy to be displaying around the high 14's to sometimes 14L/100km. Admitadly a lot of my driving is around town but I never remember seeing it this high and it's been this high now for a few months.

I do use the ethenol fuel on some occasions, tyres at about 36psi, and I don't carry/tow a load.

Is this normal?

Cheers,

Nick

Sounds about right but to be sure it's best to fill right up at the same pump and zero the trip so you can work it out accurately next time you fill up.
The 3.5 auto double cab 4x4 is rated at 13L/100km average so 15L/100km city and 12L/100km country might be realistic depending how you drive?
Why not put it on sequential LPG injection and virtually half your fuel bills?
An SS Commodore tested after having it fitted actually produced more power, only 3kw but it shows how good it is now
Here's a blurb on it.

Just realised this is 4 years old!
Here's a newer one.

I get around 12 in the manual on average mix of highway and city.

Mine runs the sequential Lpg system and is cheap as chips.

It averages 16 / 100 so at 50c / ltr it is only $ 8 / 100 klm

I have never paid more than 48c/ltr and usually get it around the 42-44cent mark.

At 44/ltr costs me around $7.00 per 100 klm.

As I do alot of klm ( 60 000 / year ) it adds up to quite a saving.

Hi Guys,

How much you looking at to get it installed and where does the gas tank go?

Can you switch between gas and petrol?

Cheers,

Nick

Around the $ 5 - 5200 fitted. The tank goes where the spare wheel is and it goes into the tray.

The new sequential systems switch themselves over automatically but you also have a switch to do it manually if you wish.

Best I have made is 397 klm from 61.2 litres.

Still trying to crack the 400 mark but with my ladders on the roof all the time will have to wait to the chrissy break to try it without them on.

The only place I would go is Metropolitan Autogas at Albion and ask for Scotty. Tell him Brad sent you down for a good deal and he will look after you. His workshop is the one all the caryards send theirs to when their normal gas guy cant fix a problem.

Have done 60 000 klm this year on the gas and no dramas at all.

Heya, sorry for the delayed response. That's deffinatley something to think about. After a tax claim is pretty good value.

Thanks again for the advice, will have a think about it.
