08 Triton Glow plugs

Postby Quintin79 on Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:54 am

Did a bit of a quick search but didnt find a difinitive answer.

just got my new triton and its running a little rough cold. same issue on my MK so i thought first thing i would look at hte glow plugs.

i looked on google for about half an hour and couldnt find a THING for ML triton glow plugs. local repco doesnt stock them either

the NGK website doesnt list the ML triton, just the MK. i read somewhere that these are also called L200 tritons but NGK has the L200 as a 1980-1986 model. when i do an image search for L200 i get nothing but new tritons.

as you can see i am having difficulty identifying the clear name for this model and then finding plugs for it.

any help appreciated.

Try searching the engine (4M41)

Here is a search I prepared earlier. :geek:

That's pretty cheap too geek. Note that they also have some cross reference part numbers which I'll paste below for future convenience:

BOSCH - GPM904
HKT - PM-168
MITSUBISHI- ME203539

Hope they're right...

I thought they would be more than that.

Has anyone here used this brand? Mine getting a bit cranky to start cold, I thought it might be battery as its getting old, but it is a white puff of smoke on cold start which may be the glow plugs?

Are you waiting for the glow plug light to go out before turning the ignition all the way forward? But yeah I think you get the white puff if they're not hot enough.

It's the little curly pig tail looking one - I used to not know what that was all about - it's a subject that comes up every few months so you'd be in good company.

I know what a glow plug light looks like, just never noticed it on my triton  I'm always cautious with them on my diesel equipment as its pretty much all old. I honestly didn't think that they had the need to glow for long these days

Must have thought my triton was a magic diesel

Ahh good spot sir! 8-)

Wait for the curly pigtail light to go out before turning over. Takes 5-10 seconds depending on coolant temp and condition of your battery. I forget all the time resulting in a long cranking time and puff of smoke on startup.
