15000km service early?

Postby Gcmkt on Wed May 14, 2014 8:33 pm

Hello gents

maybe a bit pedantic but I've got 13000km on the clock and have planned a 10 day trip away in a fortnights time as Im heading up to Frazer then out west to Moree then home. It'll be a 3000km round trip putting my kms over 15000km. What are some of your thoughts. Do I do the 15000km service before I go which will ensure its in top condition, or squeeze out the 3000km and do the 15000km service late and go over the recommended kms for the service.

cheers

I personally would have the service to ensure it's in top condition prior to your trip. You can always have a mid service from a local mechanic prior to the 30k one if your concerned.

Yeah I'd always go a service before a long trip. But I also wouldn't be worried about exceeding the interval by only 1000km.

If it were me I wouldn't bother whats a couple k's between services? you might as well get the most out of your fluids and oils before you change them.

If it was me I'd empty my fluids- do your trip... And then when you get back get your service done and they can re fill your fluids then.... :D

    Lmao! 1000 kms is nothing to worry about... If your just driving on the freeway. Going anywhere 'harsh' like, where you'll actually rely on your truck, then I would always advocate to get it done before!

Don't forget to get a wheel alignment as well. Mine was 9 degrees out from new.

For the 15,000 I would do it before. Give it a good check over ready for the trip. The oil has been in from new so may be a bit grungy with wearing in. May also have a few loose bolts that need tightening.

What was I thinking  Your truck might explode if that service is not done.

Yeah you get 2500km over before you lose CPS. O found that out the hard way on my lancer. They also said I'd lose my warranty and roadside assistance but then changed their mind. I was 2600km overdue.

I read on a mitsu site somewhere that if the vehicle isn't serviced by a dealer before the due date/kms then you aren't covered by roadside assist until that service is caught up. Then the roadside assist will be valid again for the next km/time frame.

Thanks for the responses. It's done now, I feel happier it's done knowing its been serviced and that everything is doing what it is supposed to. Felt a bit self conscious about doing it early but the only reason for the early service is I didn't want to blow out the kms and have something go wrong while I was away. I can hit the road with piece of mind now. Here we come Frazer !! :D

Cheers
