15000km service in brisbane. seems a rip off

Postby fireball on Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:27 pm

just rang around for the 15000km service
quoted $431 from mooroka
$456 from zupps on logan rd

if i brought my own oil in, that reduces it by about $94
can anyone confirm whether they check valve clearances or not ? if they are'nt then y is it so expensive ?!

only reason i want to take it back to a dealer is : i can see a leak from the rear diff even tho the nut is tight, there is a missing inner bolt/bracket holding my rollbars

anyone got any cheaper quotes or service from a dealer in brisbane ?
scan a cheap invoice up if u've got one and can be bothered, so we can all hammer them for cheaper servicing !
cheers

Tell them to be reasonable or you'll get it serviced else where. Just take it to the stealer for warranty stuff if they're trying to line their pockets. I do.
Plus, what they quoted will be without GST and extra crap they add on. Environmental surcharges, work experience boy picking his arse charge etc.

I paid $340.00 from my dealer in Mareeba North Qld that was 15000k service, new air filter and remove and replace with new under guard from TJM
Broken down Filter $60.00, Guard $90.00 and service was $190.00
The problem with you diff is the crash seal is u/s they need to grind off a little spot weld on the diff that is what stuffs the seal. I just got mine done

I just opened 3 days mail and discovered that I may be leading you astray, as they have done me...

A service reminder letter which goes on to say "If you DO NOT require a Mitsubishi Handbook Service, we also have our 'Super Service Specials'
- light vehicle $170+gst
- 4x4 $190+gst

Mine is a lease vehicle but I'm still going to try and pin this guy down on the price - he knew it was the 15k service for a managed vehicle and he still quoted me $190...

Give'em a call mate and see what they come up with...

I just got quoted $460 for a 15000k service at zupps capalaba, which has replaced the cleveland store.

I questioned the price and he said - "it probably includes a wheel alignment or something, there is a 1.5 hr labour charge in there as well"

I have a few warranty issues - airbag light, leaf squeak, ecu reflash.

I'll drop in this afternoon and double check that price - it always comes down face to face.

Good to see they've got a handle on why they charge so much. :?:

I had all sorts of issues getting my airbag light fixed. Get them to get a sparky in straight away or you'll be hassling them for months. Mine turned out to be a loose connection behind the drivers kick panel. The mongrels just kept clearing the code for me and the light would be back on before I left their driveway. So much for a test drive or anything. :x

Just got mine 15k done at the local Penrith dealer - $414. Rip off I think considering the only thing change was oil and filter. Everything else was just 'checked'. I will definitely be shopping around for the 30k service.

These were the prices I was quoted by a dealer around 18 months ago when I was compairing vehicles (fuel combinations)

These were Zupps Cleveland (Brisbane) prices.

Thanks god fuel prices have come down, it wasn't pretty when I did this when diesel was approaching $1.80/l

I think from memory I used 10l/100kms for the diesel and 13l/100kms for the petrol (approx figures on the fuel plackards)

Interesting results. Does anyone remember the price difference between a petrol and diesel triton?

Around my area it's about a 25c/l difference between ulp and diesel which would probably make them fairly even.

I've got a Mitsubishi mechanic lined up to do mine and hopefully he will be sweet with me doing the oil and filter change so he just has to look at the rest and sign the service book. They get about $27 an hour before tax so if he gets something like $100 he should be more than happy for an easy hours work?
