Manual Transmission and transfer case filler plug location?

Postby bowieforest on Sat Jul 04, 2015 5:19 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and have had a good search with keywords like transmission fluid change, gearbox oil replacement etc etc but haven't ben able to find a description, schematic or picture of the filler bolts (or drain bolt) locations for either the manual clunker or transfer case. I've got the 2.5L Diesel MN 4x4 and I'm doing most of the 90k service myself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd hate to take a blot out of the side of the clutch and be fingering around for 10 mins trying to feel for an oil level.

Also, I bought Castrol mineral 75w-85 for the transfer case and Nulon fully sunthetic 75w-85 for the gearbox. Spent the extra on the gearbox to try and help with those cold morning second gear shifts. Let me know if I'd make a terrible choice.

Thanks in advance

Ignore their use of the word transmission, this is the manual gearbox and transfer

Also always undo the filler first, in case it's stuck. You don't want to drain it and discover you can't fill it.

Not necessarily, I've reused the originals numerous times on both the diffs and gearbox and never had a leak.

The only one I do change is the one on the sump

I just replace with a new copper washer. I buy the multi size pack at supercheap, and grab the right size one out of the pack when changing fluids
