Engine running when bleeding brakes

Postby dwhylan on Mon Oct 19, 2015 9:47 am

Hi, saw the below in the service manual, anyone have the engine running when bleeding brakes, I removed and cleaned the front pistons and calipers but didn't and never have started the engine while bleeding brakes. Brakes and pedal are good but maybe the pedal feel can be better with the engine running.

BRAKE LINE BLEEDING
1.Start the engine and bleed the air in the sequence shown in the figure.

I own a brake shop and have never had the engine running, some fancier cars with electronic assisted master cylinders require at least ignition on. The only other time I have ignition on is to purge air from an ABS unit of it's been disconnected.
