2012 MN Triton 4D56T thermostat

Postby JamieV on Mon Oct 31, 2016 4:39 pm

Where is the thermostat? How do I take it out?

I have had my Triton since it had 93,000kms on it (now has 136,600kms) and it has just started an overheating act!

Replaced coolant did a flush but I just dont trust still the water pump or thermostat so I will be doing those next. So again, where is and how do I remove the Thermostat and what would e a quality replacement?

Cheers.

I hate to tell you mate, but you may have much bigger problems than a thermostat. On the plus side you might get a new engine out of it, on the negative side your current motor might be leaking coolant around the head gasket.

As for the thermostat, if you go to the drivers side wheel arch, pull the top bit of rubber back and look towards the back of the water pump, past the power steering pump and you should be looking at the where the thermostat goes. Should be about 3 bolts from memory. Best access is from that wheel arch with a socket and long extensions.
