Oil filter thread mn diesel

Postby asha31 on Tue Dec 27, 2016 7:34 am

Hi guys just wondering if anybody had had this issue, pulling off the old oil filter unnoticed it was not spinning off nicely, looks like the first 3 threads have been damaged, not completely stripped but much lower than the rest, not real keen to just force on a new filter any ideas?

Sounds like someone started putting one on cross threaded - must have been ham fisted.

You could get the correct die and clean up the thread.

Or just rotate the new one counterclockwise to find the start of each thread before screwing on the new filter.

If the thread is really bad you may have to get the whole fliter mount casting.
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!
