Just been on the blower..... Best quote I have found is 720 with tappet adjustment and 420 if it passes the audible check :?

The guys a Lithgow seem to know a bit more about the surging and loss of power problems with the 2.5. First thing he mentioned.... sounds like the SCV

Now about to stir my stealer.....

Guys I never got the tappets done because they are noisey....I can hear them... when they wear they get quieter and can actually closeup the clearance and keep the valves open.

Someone on here reckons' the dealer said about 60k to start thinking about the tappets, and i think they are right..

I think thats crap, they can wear if they go either way, Mates that have had their 30000 service found some too tight and some too loose, they will cause issues with fuel economy, performace and unnecessary wear and tear.

Why else would they reccomend for them to be adjusted, Similar to small quantity injection learns done at every service, fine tuning the injection system for optimum performance, if not done the car wont run at its best.

Done tappets on a tri the other day, first time ever done from factory had 176xxxk's on it. So they can go to 60 but I recommend as the service book suggests.
No longer a Mitsubishi technician, just a plain old boring mechanic with Mitsubishi training...

2005 Toyota Prado gxl, Lifted, Bar, Lights, Tyres etc etc...

Triton still on the waiting list.....

chaser i though the book says 30k for tappets not 60k.

do you find they typically need much adjusting at 30k?
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

The local dealer here leaves the valve clearance until 60,000km and then does it every 30,000km as per the book.
They say that the first 30,000 check has shown them to within tolerance or that close it's not worth touching. I thought that was a breath of fresh air, makes sense since the surface hardening is at it's peak and gives me some confidence in their honesty since it's to my advantage, not theirs. :)

Hi guys, :D

It's taken me several months to find a top spot in Tassie, being spoilt for choice didn't help.
Finally settled on 17 acres not far from Mt. Roland and move in next month. I felt at home
right away, top place to live.
Once I get settled in I'll have more time on line, sharing at the moment.

ok so book says every 30000klms
do you think it is worth risking a warrenty claim if you burn a valve , by missing the first 30klm and going to 60klm cause iam sure mitsu will wipe their hands if the book is not stamped with the valve adjustment

He is in FTG off Dorset rd. I have been going to them for 10 years. They are very reasonably priced. And the service is fantastic, I know them pretty well but still need to book about 3 weeks in advance for a service. Let me know if you want their details and I will sort you out.

picked ute up friday :D , iwas charged $628 for 30k service i know its a bloody ripoff but i spoke with workshop foreman about the time allowed by mitsi for this service and its 4HRS total time because of the valves, and MUT has a program to boost fuel rail pressure to test for leaks to common rail, that is why ultratune and backyard guys can charge $400 for a service as they simply cannot do a proper job,i asked him about me skipping the valves because of talk about them not moving and waiting till 60k to check, why would you want to void your warranty to save $200 , and i get to keep roadside assist, now at some stage i realise i will be telling the dealer to stick it to save some cash and service my triton myself but unfortunatly we seem to be locked in eddie,as for capped price servicing i think he said it still costs $300 a service :?
anyways he took piccys of inlet tract to show me how dry my carbon issue is with my catch can and blanking plate with 6mm hole ;) best mod ive ever done :!:

Was told the valves need adjusting quite a bit??!!! Is noticeably quieter now. Also they reckon the fuel quantity was out and needed adjustment. Hopefully my fuel economy will improve!!
