Tripps new Canvas Canopy

Postby TrippsTriton on Sun Jun 05, 2011 11:06 pm

Hello boys thought I'll add my new addition to the triton a new canvas canopy on the stock tub.
I've been looking a canopy for a long time but could not justify the $2000 +++ cost so doing some research I found I could do it slot cheaper. So I bought the steel and as I am a farmer we have a pipe bender and welder so I created the frame. I didn't want the canopy wider the the cab so made it flush looking.
As it took two various options for the front frame I decided to mount it to two top of the tub.
Cost $100 for steel pipe
Pricless my time to bend pipe into shape and weld.
$660 Canvas canopy mates rate as he is a motortrimmer

Nice job tripp ;) , are your intentions to use buttons on the tub to hold the canvas or similar clips to the torneau cover tie downs :?:

I love this idea mate. Its such a good option and so much more versatile than a canopy can be. Wish i had your welding skills. Looking great so far and i cant wait to see it with the canopy on !!!

Well ATM I've just used clear contact, temporary solution but useless  but when I've got the time I go to auto shop and get the thick clear buttons or something similar. Yeah cos where the hold down clips are it is scratching paint off. But apart from that I'm really happy with. The weekend I got it back went camping chucked everything in and still had PLENTY of room for extras :D

Any issue with water pooling in the canopy roof?

@ ag9111
Nah mate not at all that centre bar in the roof top just gives enough angle for water to roll off the canvas.
