HCR83 Build

Postby hcr83 on Thu Dec 25, 2014 9:48 pm

I was told to do a build thread and i said i would wait for a rainy day but....i was waiting for a mate to turn up and he was still a couple of hours away so i quickly did up a something to make a start.

Well here goes..........

Picked up the rig in 2012 - as stock as a lock except for the rims that i got thrown in to seal the deal, and i chucked on a hardtop as well. Thought i would be happy with it as it was for a while. Lasted all of about 6 days and i was like ummmm yeah its time to dress this baby up

This was it when i got it:

then started the accessories...

First was an ARB Bulbar, and i put a light bar and cheap Ebay winch in it. (should not have bothered. It died the third time i used it  )

Next was the canopy - the hard lid was a PITA when trying to pack for camping or a day out on the beach. Couldn't fit a thing. Man i love the canopy - one of the best things i did. Soooo much more room.

Then we planned a trip to Manar Park and i needed an excuse to upgrade the shoes - so i told the missus that the tyres on it would be a safety hazard etc etc  ;) and so came the 32" Maxxis Bighorns. Yes they are noisy but hell they are good off road. The Manar trip was a ripper and the tyres copped a floggin!!

After that day i had ripped off one of the plastic pieces that go on the rear step - so i thought its high time i got some protection for its big arse. I didnt really like any of the rear bars made for the Triton mainly because they stick out to much so i decided to make my own.
Its nothing special but it doesnt look out of place and it has save the back end on numerous occasions.

After a few more rough outings i took a look at my standard bash plates and WOW they were cactus!! This was mainly brought to my attention after my mate told me he had smashed his diff through the original plates. So after much ummin and arrhing i dedcied to stick with ARB.
They were worth every penny and have probably saved me three times their price.

Since then i have added the snorkel, Chip and 3" Exhaust, Uniden UHF, Ultimate Suspension, ARB Compressor under Pass seat, Black Duck Seat Covers, Homemade set of drawers, 1" Body Lift, Alpine Head unit and upgraded speakers, Sprint Booster, Duel Battery System.

i don't have any photos uploaded of these but will get them and put them up in the near future.

Here is the finished product as of Dec 2014. :)

Looks good, the only thing that I would say that you are missing now is a set of side steps, by the look of that smashed up one on the drivers side... ;)

My guess is he was talking about the body lift somehow?
