make sure you pull your tub right back before measuring the mounts to the chassis. also there is some debate about how the bar attaches regarding flex. dont want to hijack but it seems the ARB ones dont let the chassis rails flex 'individually' as much as, say, the mits standard bar. so it might be worth having a look under the bck of someones tri with an ARB rear step.

i have not got to the bottom of this yet but in any case make sure your tub is adjusted as far away from the cab as possible.

nice work dylan. good luck.

i was thinking of making one 2
but have doubts about the mounting to chassis and flex isseu
did came up with a thought of how to but not shure (il have to make a drawing and post it and see what you guys think of it. i think it would be t heavy :D)
but with the spair wheel gone from under the tub i would make an extra platform to mount an air compressor tank :D fitted to the reinforcement between the mounts of the bumper

just a crazy tought but
ohwel it wil come to me in a goodnight sleep :D

its a headache that flex you dont wane make it to stif cuz it could rip out the mounting holes but stif enough to do some hauling

btw no hijack intended
im learing on this forum 2 :) pleas share aloth of your bumper making experience :D

timothy,
i was just going to make the mounts like the factory towbar has out of 10mm plate , then weld some flat bar at 90 degrees on the edge to make it a bit more rigid

got some more done over the last couple days , hitch tube all welded in also cut and boxed the last part of the angle underneath then spent a while with the file to get the sharp lines

slowly getn there just need to get some plate for the chassi mounts and tube for the tub protection and we there ;)

Been able to get some more done on the bar over the weekend , slowly getting there :? :D

Got the chassis mount plates done and on the car

Cut slots in the bar to have the plate come through for some strong recovery points straight to the chassis

Then put another piece of 10mm plate next to it to really beef it up

Scored some 50mm bends 5mm wall from the local scrap yard ... $2 each , bargin !!
They are for the tube that will go under the sides of the tub

Few more bits to make then its just some welding and paint and im done ( took me long enough  )

Dylan,

if you drag it down a rock face i dont think any finish will remain intact. i am pretty sure all ARB gear is just painted over the steel.

i personally would use a method that is easy to touch up and repair in the future because if you do drag it down a rock step you can repair yourself.

Yeah thats why i thought i would just spray it , easy repairs ;)
Killrust epoxy i think , spray it from a gun and can also get it in pressure pack for touchups
