I think the rhino rack and other brands fit. I think the bars are all the same, but there are different mounting brackets that is dependent on each type of vehicle.

Rhino rack, Thule and pro rack all make bars that fit tritons.

Do a search mate, plenty of comments about bars on here.

FYI the rhino track mounts give the greatest payload of100kg, others are all 50kg from memory.

I just installed them last week.

MN GLXR, did you install the ones that are being riveted into the roof - the heavy duty ones?

I just got a set of ProRack Swift Commercial bars. they have a tie down point at each end and you can easily slip in all the extra attachements you need. Rated to 100kg and fit up a treat. I mounted my cage, shovel and hilift jack to them with no issues.

The cross bars are about $300 but they often come up on special. I saw them advertised at $225 or something like that recently. Would be supercheap or repco I think. Then you pay a small bit extra for the mounting hardware.

You can also buy height packers to lift the cross bars up higher on the feet although I suspect that they might start to look a bit crap if you packed them too high.

Edit - just checked online and the special price was Repco. $225. $248 at Supercheap, also on special.
If you really, really need a measurement I may get a chance to check it for you tomorrow.

From memory isn't your whirlybird in the middle of the canopy Marco :?

If this be the case it will never be of a hinderance and the rack height wouldn't matter unless you plan on racks for the canopy also but we've already spoken about NOT sharing loads between the cab and canopy.

Hope it makes sense mate ;)

Hi All, just a quick one in regards to the thule/genuine roof rack as I scored a pair off a mate. Where they clamp onto the door sill should there be a piece of foam/rubber to stop them damaging the paint work as there is nothing at the moment and I cannot see any residue from anything being there before?

Cheers

The ones i just put on had a piece of contact for each clamp that stuck to the clamp and stopped the metal rubbing against your paintwork

Hey mate, as the boys have probably said there are many options in the roof rack area.

Depends on what you needed it for and whether you can justify spending a decent amount of dollars on something you plan on using on a daily basis like i do (as a plumber).

I fitted the tradesman roof rack to my car, which is 2.1 meters long, 1300 wide and also have a custom steel channel on the front (somewhere above the drivers and passengers head) for support as they dont really recommend you getting a full rack to allow for the chassis flex that tritons tend to get.

all up there rated up to 100 kgs but could definitely take more than that if need be.

all i put up there is pipe for work and plan on using it for the roof top tent and the spare tyre so it is plenty.

If you want to see it just click on my build thread as its in there.

Best of luck with whatever you choose !
Plenty of good options out there ! :D

My pro-rack bars came with a thick clear plastic pad - a bit like contact plastic but maybe 2 or 3 x as thick and about as wide as duct tape. It seems to have done the trick and the feet haven't worn through it as yet. It's only a couple of mm bigger than the bracket bit so you hardly notice it's there.
