Valerio´s Challenger (Montero Sport)

Postby VALERIO on Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:48 pm

Hey Mates. After some years enyoing my Triton and waiting for Venezuela Mitsubishi´s to bring the Challenger finally I can took 3 Challengers from the first production. One for my wife, other for my father and the other for my brother, all the same color :) we only found two GLS so my wife decided to catch the GLX, the differences are mostly cosmetics, chrome mirrors and handles, rain sensor, steering wheel with radio controls, leather seats and parking sensors. Same engine and transmission. If you already read my tritón´s thread you know that I live in Venezuela at South America, third world and the downside about it is personal security at the city  so me and my family got all vehycles armoured . Well... the good side is the nature and weather is amazing. The 3 Challengers was armoured with a level 3 ¨light¨ because is around 180kg of Kevlar and ballistic windows. My brother installed Old Man Emu suspension and I went for the Dobinsons, Old Man Emu is wayyyy better. My wife´s Challenger was fitted with TOYO 285/70r17.

Nice. Pity about the need to have them armoured. :(

V6 Mivec? 3.8 litre? Should go like stink. They'll make a few over here very jealous.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Well the market genius :geek: from Venezuelan Mitsubishi´s assembly plant decided to bring only one engine option and is the smallest one  the 3.0 MIVEC. 220hp but not so much torque. With Super Select and diff lock.

Oh. :( That's a pity. Still, that engine can be modified to produce some very big numbers.

220hp isn't too bad anyway. I had an NH Pajero and an MK Triton with that motor. Not MIVEC though so lucky to get 150hp. They went ok.

Have you guys seen the new Triton yet?

What kind of modification do you think will be good to add some torque and hp?

Turbo. Guys in the US getting 500hp and I'm sure I read about one here that was 500kW, maybe another that was 1000hp. Bottom end in those motors is pretty strong - they'll take some serious power. A more conservative setup could give an easy 300hp or they can take supercharging fairly well too if you want more down low.

MIVEC heads have pretty good flows.

RPW in Perth are doing various packages. See here for dyno results and here for an overview. Plenty of others doing similar.

wow just wow
from that link chris put up
This makes it perfect for towing or four wheel driving when you need low down torque. With just 6psi of pressure, power gains of over 55% can be safely achieved on an internally stock engine without any other modifications.

but it is a TRD supercharger tho on a mitsy lol
but yer wow good numbers from a stock engine with a bolt on

Read this First ;) ;)Then still cant find what you are after

i wouldnt say no to a petrol powered challenger, it would be much quieter than out 2.5 TD's.
I like the thought of a conservative turbo setup running low boost with an automatic gearbox. mmmmm making me happy already.
i suspect its easier of the maintenance side as well. dont have as many parts to keep maintained
