Usually, the GPS is on the same chip as the radio (read mobile signal).
I should rephrase the OP - normally you don't get GPS without 3G

My fantasy reverse monitor/double din radio would be:

Powered by android 4.0+ (poweramp (play ANY audio format) AND sygic navigation= win)
bluetooth
Inbuilt gps
2+ Reverse camera input
usual audio outputs
OBD2 input

Chance of happening= 0% haha

Then again a head unit tht has no inbuilt screen, and relies on you docking your phone to it instead would be simpler. No mucking around with cables/bluetooth/wifi ever again. A man can dream....

I have just fitted this unit. Full replacement arm, no clip over. Mounted the CCD camera just above the Tow Ball and gives a brilliant view for reversing and hooking up the trailer.

Got the Repco unit a few days ago - on special for around $50

Pic looks OK on the bench.

If you open the monitor unit, there are a couple of buttons to allow reverse image
& brightness adjustment.

I'm thinking about mounting it over a part of the mirror.

Also possible switch to allow other cameras to be hooked in is another possible project.

Went to repco today and bought the auto media unit, model amv-4320mbt

Mirror is lighter than expected, which is good.

Its a clip on type, so easily removed when not required. Camera has 170° viewing angle.

Fitted a camera today 170* angle ,water proof,infared which works great at night and sound,i ran it straight to my navman gps,i drew the power from the LH reverse light and ran the Av wires along the chassis and poked them through the large grommet under the passenger seat.
The thing i liked the most is when operating in normal gps mode as soon as you select reverse the camera comes on and displays on the gps,i thought i would have to select AV every time but she does it automatically,all up it cost $125.00 including a packet of cable ties and 2 F/F AV connectors

Ok just finished fitting the reverse camera.

Couple minor issues. Ive powered the camera via the driver side reverse lights and discovered when you tap the brake there is a voltage drop and causes the camera to lose power for a fraction of a second. Not a huge issue, but i'm more worried if this will cause damage to the camera long term.

Apart from that we did a test run backing into the float and was pleased with the result.

I have a camera more or less in the same position as that. Only downside is that it mists up in the rain.

Mine is also in that position and never had it fog up. I was very pleased how clear the picture was in pouring rain.

I bought a $48 wireless from Fleabay.
It has the 4" screen and numberplate camera.
was playing with it this arvo. Gunna fit it sometime next week.
The screen only needs power and an AV cable from the wireless receiver.
The camera takes power from reverse light.

For $50 bucks, if it works OK, then it is worth it. If it doesn't, Then I'm only out of pocket $50.

I got a clic-on dash mount from holdmyphone.com.au that fits over the top of the left side drivers vent. the screen will velcro onto this.

Not much different than looking at the rear view mirror. Just a tilting your head few degrees back a bit more!

Feels like you will hit your head at first. But never had Even wheeling on the harshest terrains too

And the rear camera is located at the driver side (not Aussie driver) of the tailgate handle. You can see the black spot on the photo.

hey guys i just installed a reversing camera and am having some trouble the camera works when i put it in reverse and ive got power to the monitor but my radio and trip computer arnt working any more i ran the power for the monitor from the cigaret lighter. do i have to put a code in or restart the radio system somehow.

I'd be checking plugs and fuses first if it was me.

yer i checked the radio fuse swamped them over no change and just noticed the interior lights arnt working either. the cigarette lighter still works and the left rear reversing light and that's what i actually pulled the power from could it have to do with bad earthing. i don't have a multi tester so cant relay tell weather the radio and trip computer are still getting power

Yeah I've heard of this one before with the interior light. It will come back to me eventually but I'm sure it's a fuse, just not the one you're expecting. Are your blinkers still working? Anyway check all the fuses, it might be quicker than my memory is.

turn the ignition off for a few minutes before you start pulling fuses

or you may get a fault light & need a dealer to re-set it
