Cowboy Dave wrote:Today I installed... Okay I'll stop there. Today I plugged in and connected two devices to make the MMCS more user friendly. I've stopped short of calling it installed because at the moment there are wires hanging everywhere, none of the control boxes are mounted/secured and the MMCS is held in by two screws and a rolled up rag.
The first device is a Japanese imported device which enables video in motion and/or touchscreen usage at all times. I previously had a resourceit device which did half of that but fell short on the video front. I'm planning a second rear camera that I can manually activate so I want the screen to show that while driving, which this device will allow.
The second is a Pure Highway 300Di. It's an impressive little box which will play DAB+ radio, iPod, auxiliary input or a USB stick of music and then pass that to the stereo, either via the aerial or through your aux input plugs. The iPod control is not as good as the MMCS touchscreen but otherwise it seems pretty good, especially since I now have a bunch of extra radio stations to listen to.
One big disappointment though has been the gme aerial I bought to support the upgrade to DAB+. While it may have improved FM reception, and enables DAB+, the AM reception is worse than with the factory antenna. Fortunately the 3 main ABC stations are also digital so I can access them that way.
I'll probably look into whether I can get some sort of antenna switcher or whether I can combine the two somehow.
Now I just have to go back and tidy everything back up and reassemble my dash.
