2011 triton 4x4 4d56 sump removal.

Postby AlexMQ on Fri May 10, 2019 6:07 pm

Good evening to all.

One of my mates has spun a big end bearing after running the engine very low on oil and not servicing the car either. He has had it diagnosed by someone else and has asked me if i am interested in doing the repair. He wants me to drop the sump and have a good look if putting new bearings in is feasible.

So what i would like to know is how hard is it to remove the sump in a 4x4 2011 triton? as i see that as being the biggest pain?

I have looked online and here also for a manual if someone has a link or the specs i will need id appreciate a point in the right direction.

Thank you.

Links to the online manual are easily found with a search of the forum, or in the Forum Directory.

Look under 11A - Engine Mechanical.

Are you a mechanic? I'd figure not if you had to ask how to remove a sump. Bearing changes need a bit more knowledge and some specialised tools.

Maybe better to tell your mate to use the money he saved by not servicing the vehicle on an engine rebuilder. There's likely a lot more wrong there than just a bearing.
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Thanks for the link a few came up but were for the sohc on google, that link is exactly what i needed. Iam a mech and wanted to know if i had to drop out the front diff and all the other 4x4 goodness as i cant be bother going to that extent just to open it up and find the crank is no good. i hadn't had a chance to look at the car myself.

if it had died a natural cause i wouldn't mind but being 100 percent poor car care which annoys me , the job is a no from me.

i had already recommended a rebuild to him today but he wanted to explore maybe putting bearings in it. also does any one have a recommendation of a good re builder i can suggest to him? we are in the western suburbs of Victoria?

also re reading my first post i worded it poorly.
