MQ brake controller install

MQ brake controller install

Postby agrods on Sat Jul 25, 2015 6:44 am

Does anyone know if the new Tritons have a factory harness/plug arrangement to install a P3 brake controller?
Had to break into the loom in the old ML and am hoping the new one will be easier.

Thanks,

When I fitted my Taconsia Brake Controller to my 2008 ML there was a loom plug available just under the inside fuse box, so I would suggest that Mitsubishi Triton MQ would be the same.

So does the genuine tow package not come with a brake controller? Surely if they spruke 3.1 ton the genuine setup comes with one?

The plug and play harness for MN is MR936977

There is a different number for newer models. But start there and work forward

Hi mate, I just followed the info in this thread! viewtopic.php?t=6584
Was very helpful! The kick panel on the left side was easy enough.

Did it last week. Bought the harness from mitsubishi, it comes with instructions. It was a bit fiddly, but got there in the end. The hardest part was backing out some of the wires from their connectors.

I thought it was just a direct plug in harness ? How many wires do you have to alter.

There is a main harness which needs to be connected into the existing wiring in the passenger footwell. This involves taking some existing wires out and connecting some wires from the harness in. Then there is a wire that needs to be connected under the bonnet from battery to existing wiring. Then one more under the tray into the towbar wiring.

I have no electrical experience whatsoever. The hardest part for me was figuring how to take out some of the existing wiring. It was very fiddly.

Or a part number for the MQ harness? Or is it the same as the MN?

I've just fitted a towbar with no problems it came with a wiring loom. I'm now fitting a brake controller and fitted the wiring apart from the wire that goes from the brake pedal switch to the controller.
Anyone know which wire i Should tap into ? Thanks

Any one used either of these and can offer any feed back when it come time to install. Was it all plug and play or was there additional work required

I noticed on ebay there seems to be quite a few cheaper looms available, are they all what they say they are or is there some we should keep away from, I noticed with the above they already come with a plug ready to hook up the electric brake controller.

Heres one of the ebay looms
