So ultimately, you could end up effectively having the equivalent of a resistor or short circuit between the memory and power feeds.
I removed the stereo and still had the issue. I’ve now removed a heap of shoddy PO accessory add ons and so far so good. I did find one thing I’m not sure about though. There is a fused wire coming straight off the battery and plugging into the harness just in front of the battery. Disconnecting it doesn’t appear to disconnect anything that I’ve noticed but the harness plug looks factory, does anyone know if this is stock or an add on? Thanks
