Might as well go for a complete new engine as only a matter of time now.

Interesting the original posters MN never threw a CEL with sustained boost like that. Most get very temperamental from 22psi onward.

We have run 35psi when heavy tune loaded with issues and I've seen these engines run up to 42PSI without exploding. Not a good idea with the OEM IHI VGT as goes into hyper-speed.

Some issues with running excess boost (More boost than needed) in no particular order as I'm to tired to think ATM....
Drive effort, friction, turbo over speed and cavitation, excessive thrust to turbo bearings (bushes) reduces air fuel ratio well below optimum for maximum HP and torque, Intercooler hoses blowing off or splitting, lifting piston crowns etc. All will render poor fuel economy and an early retirement of the turbo and some cases the Engine.

Play nicely when it comes to boost.

which makes more boost and generates more power than the items on the MLs - which no doubt led to your replacement of the stock item with a larger unit. :P

Yeah, and lets say, I'm not an . . .economical driver  so I saw 35psi on a very regular basis, and I never EVER had any problem with the car, power wise anyway. No codes, no stuters, no coughs, nothing!
