I never knew till I joined here and got to modding a vehicle for the first time ever.

Not something most people would look for in the first place ;-)
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

I did say sorry in advance.....
And no, no high horse.

Perhaps I worded it obtusely. It was not about the OBD port.
It was about anyone being able to plug in a cheap device that at the moment (thankfully), on a limited level, accesses a vehicles control and diagnostic systems.

Read only great. Scan and clear codes, great as well.

In the not too distant future anyone may be able to purchase, for not a lot of money, a device that is able to drill down and, in the hands of someone 'just having a look around', manage to [censored] it up big time.

Thankfully there are many safeguards in the management systems. But, as I have said in a reply elsewhere to another post, most people don't read manuals. And that's where the damage originates.

Anyway, if I have offended anyone I apologise again. I've been an auto electrician for 38 years and seen all manner of technical [censored] ups, sometimes from those who should have known better. When some people start to play with new technology I get a shiver........

Pretty sure the guy asked where the port was yeah?? Don't recall him asking your "expert" opinion on the matter. You have made 2 posts in this thread and about 8 paragraphs and still haven't answered his question. It's quite easy to see why the term highhorse is being thrown around

Those so called noobs your winging about are your bread and butter......
It's a well known fact that most tradesmen have to rise to the challenge of fixing other peoples stuff ups....I personally use it as a great chance for a P.R. exercise.....on the other hand it's not great P.R... To belittle somebody because of their naivety....

Last time I looked rev was the most popular iphone app for that. See also dash command which is a bit more fiddly but customisable from memory.

Do any of these gauges monitor egt? In my opinion this is the most important sensor to keep an eye on

No because there is no factory egt sensor to send a reading.

Not used it but you need a particular model GPS so unless you already have it , something else to buy (assuming you already have an android phone with gps - yes I see the irony but it is an android app).

Scan gauge can be swapped vehicle to vehicle so probably worth the investment then?

Ultra gauge is better in my view. Costs less and displays more stuff per screen.

I bought the EM plus. It does display what the ECU thinks is the boost level. If you have a chip that lies to the ECU about boost then you won't get a true boost reading as you would with a dedicated boost gauge. If your vehicle is stock though the boost reading should be on the money.

Yes but the chipits were able to trick the ECU into providing more boost in some cases by reducing the boost reading supplied.
