Can't find it? Ask here FIRST, before you start a new thread

Anything Triton related

Re: Ask here FIRST, before you start a new thread

I just spent the last half hour looking for something decent but have yet to find it.

If it was me, I would fix the anderson plug to the liner, up nice and high somewhere along the underneath of the top rail to keep it out of the weather and hopefully away from sideways shifting loads.

trying to find a thread that states the service intervals and what is done in each service on a GLX-R Triton, i found athread that says there is a thread about each different service interval but cant find the actual thread.

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

You know all the info is in the owners manual, right?

Pretty sure it's individual threads on each service, have you looked in the forum directory?
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Looking to buy a nudge bar and side steps of scumtree, and neither come with the mounting bolts. Are the bolts hard to source? I imagine the nudge bar would just be a case of getting the right size bolts, but how do the factory side steps attach to the vehicle? Does anyone have a photo of how they attach?

Cheers,
Mark

Is that a genuine nudge bar? If so (on the ml anyway) they have fairly substantial brackets that connect them. Aftermarket may be different.

Pretty sure that the sidesteps bolt straight up.

I have found viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1571&hilit=bash+plate which has a picture of a "bash plate plan", It lacks detail when zoomed.
The links no longer work for the pdf.
I can't see it in the PDF thread,

Are there PDF plans for bash plates still around or a clearer picture?

Provided they come with all the brackets I don't think you'll have any problems getting bolts to fit

Send Buzzy a PM. Hopefully he has email notification turned on so will know about it. He does get on here from time to time so you may have to be patient.

All right. That's enough.

If you go back to the first post of this thread you'll see that its intent was to help newbies find stuff on the Forum.

It is not a place for idle gossip or making Christmas social arrangements.

It is not a place for questions like "how do I do this?" or "what size tyres can I put on my Triton?" or "what's the biggest lift I can get?"

There are likely to be specific threads or forums/sub-forums for stuff like that.

It is also not a place where those who are too lazy to look for themselves can come and have others do their work for them.

As I outlined in the first post, before you post here it is expected that you have made an effort already.

NowForThe5th wrote:So, tell us what you're looking for and where you've already looked and someone will help you.

Ultimately I still believe that this can be a useful resource. But, if it's abused then I'll just shut it down.

Ok opinions please can you tow an auto 4wd that's engine is kaput without disconnecting driveshaft. Yes I know read the manual some need engine for lubrication others can hack splash short distance ok etc. Reason for asking today rescued sr5 hilux in the middle of nowhere engine seized big time no mobile reception plus about 70km from any town 200ks from any decent garage with tow truck. Anyway offered to disconnect driveshaft driver says stuff it so ok I towed it at about 40kmh to a farmhouse where it could be left safely. Would damage occur hmm to what transfer case or transmission itself. No manual was in the car to check out what Toyota says.

So long as it's in neutral and the drive train is ok I don't see a problem, the engine internals wont be moving

I thought same until I saw a suzukis transfer case stuffed on Moreton from towing due to I guess lack of lubrication still trying to get my head around how.

Possibly stuck in gear. Maybe the front hubs locked in and spinning the front axle within the transfer case at a different rate to the rear

Be interesting to know if you can do damage but suppose when your engine has shat itself and seized your probably not going to care too much. The poor guy was so pissed off and it was over 40 c .

Mercury Motorsport has there $1500 Ecutek deal till the end of the month. Not sure how that compares cost wise with a tuner doing one from scratch.

After some info re Queensland Roadworthy certificates.
Being from SA I have never had to deal with any of this, i moved over here a few months ago and changed my licence straight away, now my vehicle rego has expired. The SA Rego site won't allow me to auto renew the rego as I have a QLD Drivers Licence (I can renew if I get someone in SA to go into Service SA with a permission letter stating that I can "garage my car" in SA).
QLD rego is cheaper so I wouldn't mind swicthing to save a few $$$ but I'm nervous about the roadworthy check.
I have a 2" suspension lift, 1" body lift and 33" tyres.. I know this isn't illegal but I am happy to wear the risk as I know my car handles well and is safe to drive but it is not in the eyes of the law.
My question is - If I take my car to a mechanic garage to get a check; is this the stuff they check up on? Will they charge me a heafty fee only to fail me because of the tyres or lift? Or do most of them check for other things like rust and engine issues?
If it will be too much of a hurdle I might try getting it re registered in SA or I could put the original tyres back on and hope they don't notice the body lift.

Passed inspection and got my safety certificate.
With the 33" tyres on and all - I had the original tyres there (it was a mobile inspection at my place) in case he wanted me to put them on but he was fine with the other ones as I have flares.
I wasn't going to argue ;)
My car will be a Queenslander soon :o
