New MN tested!!

Postby boycee on Sun Aug 30, 2009 6:29 pm

I went to mount Ive station on the weekend (just near lake Gairdner).
And to my surprise on the way there i saw the two new MN triton's. When I arrived at the station the manager told me overlander, 4x4 aust and other journalists where there testing them and a new outlander.

So they went out in the hills and as we all predicted the extra 700mm on the tub made the departure angles shithouse. theymanaged to rip the rear step off and had to fly in a new one for the photo shoots.

The triton does look good and i am told it performs really well too. 2.5l.

They ones I saw are now off to the wrecking yards as they drove them 100m into the salty water of the lake.

The oldman took some photos so i will get them up as soon as i can. :D

Redbook gives the length for the MN exactly the same as the ML - 5030mm and identical width also - 1750mm... Where are they finding the extra tray length...???

Hmmm...mitsu site puts the GLX at 5030 and the GLX-R at 5174, the extra 144mm would be consumed by the nudge bar - something isn't adding up here...

I wish i was there to ask the questions the people there just don't have the same passion for the tri as me.  guess we will have to wait for the next issue of the 4x4 mags to find out the details.

They replaced the rear bar and I know that cost them $1000.00 :o

Guys,
The extra length comes from only the extended tray sizes. Chassie exactly the same, just extra on the exisiting!
Well done to boycee, you take honours for getting it first scoop. ;)

What were they driving in a lake for?
Maybe Tookie asked them to check if the new one's waterproof?

 good one homer.

They think it would make a good photo. dheads.

the station boss told me that they have had cars go for a drive in the water (for some stupid reason) and by the time they get back to camp there are signs of corrosion already. The water is damn salty. :|

the tray can't be 700 longer unless they are using the tray from the single cab so the station man got it wrong i reckon.

its my itchy trigger finger, cos i only use my two index fingers most of the time i do the dyslexic typing

But now a real thought... i dont know cos i havnt seen/tested it, but i dont like the idea of a longer tray. if i wanted a longer one i would have got a single cab. if the chassis hasnt been changed cant u just get hold of a ml tub and bolt it on??
