Club Cab is back

Postby xmldog on Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:32 am

The Club Cab is making a return to Australia this year, I believe you can order it now. I went into a dealer on the weekend to have a test drive of a single cab and he showed me the dealer info on it. Comes in pick up and cab chassis variants. Price is $4k above the single cab, with the stability control/difflock option an extra $400.

It said the load bed was ~1800mm (from memory) does anyone know what this means? Would that be inner lenth of the pick up? I'm trying to work out the length of a tray...

I believe that would be the inside length of the style side tray as my MN dual cab is 1500mm.

cheers

Cheaper, but looks 10 times better! :shock: Typical Toyota.

I had not seen a pic of these before, it looks awesome - good option if you are after a single cab! 8-)

I think I'll get one for work and keep driving it past chicky's place until he runs out shaking his fist like this old man used to do with our motorbikes ;) :D

I wonder how long before they're really available...

No interior shots jop. But I did notice that the above are the ML version, this will likely be the rear end we see in Oz;

Yeah I agree with DiD! The suicide door option is a much better look. My brother has the BT50 freestyle cab and that is a really good feature!

Thanks Daz, spot on. Pickup tray length is the same as the Hilux xtra at 1805mm so im guessing you can get a tray of the same size. I was looking for a single cab but this may be a viable option...
Looks like the same wheelbase

Yep, It's the same for all the Tritons (3000mm). Length is the same as GLX double at 5210mm.
I wonder how long before they're really available...

Dunno, the Product Info Bulletin said "from september 2010 production". Somone who works / worked at a dealership may know what this means. I'm hoping the wild wheel pack will be part of the options!

According to the Aus Mitsubishi website it's GLX only, so no Super Select etc. I'll be waiting to see if a GLX-R (or equivalent to my ML VR) eventuates...

Press release from MMA today;

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) is looking forward to the return of a popular variant of the Triton range, the Club Cab. The Triton Club Cab is at the forefront of a range of updates to the vehicle as part of its Model Year 2011 MN Triton line-up.

The Triton Club Cab is based on the 2011 Model Year four-wheel drive GLX 2.5-litre high powered diesel engine Single Cab range with the following additional interior features; bucket seats, flip up rear occasional use seats, lever type park brake, and floor console with lid and cup holder.

President and CEO of MMAL, Masahiko Takahashi said he is pleased to welcome back the Triton Club Cab to the Triton model line up.

“Triton is one of the mainstays of the Mitsubishi range and has always proved popular as a practical and rugged work vehicle that can take all the hard knocks thrown at it,” Takahashi said. “At the same time, Triton’s recognised four-wheel drive capabilities and car-like comfort have seen it used for recreational activities as well”.

“The result is that this car is in great demand – which is why we have decided to bring the Triton Club Cab back into the Triton model range”.

The Triton Club Cab is available in five-speed manual with easy select 4WD mode and heavy duty suspension as standard. The 2.5-litre four cylinder, DOHC, 16 valve powerplant generates 131 kW of power at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm – and delivers combined fuel economy figures of 8.1 litres per 100 km.

The Triton Club Cab is fitted with Mitsubishi’s industry leading safety features including Driver and passenger SRS airbags, driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioners and ABS with EBD, with Active Stability Control available as an optional extra.

The Club Cab will be available in two variants Pick Up and Cab Chassis, and both offer optional Active Stability and Traction Control and Diff Lock.

Load carrying and towing are critical factors when choosing a work-and-play utility and Mitsubishi has ensured the Club Cab will answer the requirements of the busy worker. The long-bed tray offers a total tray length of 1,805 mm, and a total tray height of 460 mm, perfect for sliding larger objects smoothly onto the utility bed. The maximum towing capacity of the Triton Club Cab is 2,700 kg and its maximum pay load is 1,057 kg for the Pick Up and 1,192 kg for the Cab Chassis.

The Triton Club Cab comes with a comprehensive five year/130,000 whole vehicle warranty, backed up by a 10 year/160,000 km powertrain warranty and a five year/unlimited km roadside assistance package. The Triton Club Cab is on sale now for $38,990* at over 200 Mitsubishi dealerships around Australia.

*Prices listed are vehicle the only price before adding dealer and statutory charges
